Wireless charging dock issues?

I had a Motorola Edge which never would charge in my 22 refreshed. The dealer said the power is limited in those pads and nothing can be done to increase it. Yesterday I upgraded to a Samsung S-24+ and found it charges perfect, even with an Otterbox cover installed. Just thought I would share my experience.

Thanks for the reply. My concern isn't with the power level of the wireless charge it's that it will start charging and completely stop charging after 1 second or so.

This seems like a faulty overall design OR the pad itself needs to be replaced due to some internal design issue or problem.

2024 AT4 here and I have the same issue. The pad is completely worthless.

I did find this as a temporary retrofit solution and the vast majority of reviewers claim it works - https://www.etsy.com/listing/1430387683/wireless-charger-adapter-for-2022-gm

That being said, the next time my truck is at the dealer for service I'm going to work out a warranty claim on this. This issue seems very common so I'm surprised I haven't seen someone get this handled at the dealer yet. It sure does seem like this needs to be a TSB.

All -

Just an update. I bought the 3D printed retrofit piece that I hyperlinked above and it didn't seem to work however when you stand it up (shown in photo attached) instead of lay it flat it does work much better. I will note that you have to get your phone near exactly centered to get it to charge but it's working more regularly than ever before. Phones I was using - iPhone 15 Pro (had a silicone Apple case and now have a Bullstrap leather case) and my iPhone 13 (OEM Apple leather case).

I did find this on another forum so this is my next step. Looks like there is a Service Bulletin (see attached file) for this issue - Bulletin No.: 22-NA-235

See the post from G$$Money...it should go right to the post with the link. I just have to find the time to make it to the dealer but may not be this month due to my busy schedule.

his post:

"I have the 2022 refresh and the wireless charger would not work with any of my phones. Samsungs. It would charge for a few seconds then shut off and back on until it cycled to a red exclamation point. Both with and without cases, inserted in multiple positions and orientations. I spoke to my salesman who asked someone in the service department about it and he found out there is a GM Service Bulletin regarding the wireless charger in the new trucks. There are 3 versions of it. The first version does not work with many phones including all Samsung and must be replaced with the newest version of the module. The second is the correct hardware but requires a firmware update to work correctly and the third is the most current version that works as advertised. I brought the truck in and mine had to be re-flashed with new firmware and it now works PERFECTLY with all my phones."

Just to update everyone on this.

I took my truck (2022 AT4X) into the dealer in mid May and the firmware update DID NOT fix the issue for me so I'm asking the dealer to replace the corresponding module and charging pad (if needed). I really want to get this to work as it's a complete nuisance with it constantly either not connecting or disconnecting charge.

I'll keep folks posted on the journey

Truck just got back from the dealer. They replaced the module under the center console - that DID NOT work. The charging pad will be replaced once it comes in off backorder.

That's the update for now.

Update: charging pad replaced this week and it didn't fix it. My best guess is this is a design flaw on the charging pad. At a stopping point and will just have to leave this alone for now as I don't think a sustainable fix exists.
