In a loaner 2025 1500, Forward to Reverse and backward to Drive?

I’ve lost faith in GM- dumbest shifter I’ve ever seen. What’s next turn right to go left, gas pedal stops and brake pedal go’s!

This is actually a normal floor shifter pattern. However, I first thought that Park should be where reverse is and reverse should be where park is, but after a while, it becomes very intuitive. Just use and enjoy it

My wife has a 25 Acadia, crazy too since its on the steering column. Whats worse is that we need to press the button in our trucks, then I get in hers and if you press the button you go into park! What a PIA... But same thing up is reverse so thats a theme, I would rather have it like hers up top or on the dash like my Rebel did so you can have a larger console space.

I wasn’t a big fan when I first got my truck but am getting used to it, for me it was more about taking up space in the console, now I don’t care as much but what does bug me is now I have to take care not to drop any tiny bits around the shifter because it can fall into the gap between the shifter and the shifter housing, no idea how to clean that out!

And now us HD drivers have to deal with that dumb empty shifter spot. Nothing fits in that spot. Not a fan of the new upper end interiors of the AT4 honestly.

I think would be more pissed about that, it’s lazy design/engineering - or it’s just training you for the future console shifter coming to a HD near you!

Haha definitely money savings to carry as much over for both the 1500 and hd line, as possible. It's obvious and annoys me, buuuut nothing I can do about it. Just keep on keeping on!

I don't love the shifter but I'm getting used to it. I have found that I have hit the park button inadvertently several times while driving and seeing a "Shift not available'"

Good to know. I've been tempted to press it just to see what would happen. I wonder what speed locks that button out.

Two months and two loaners the shifter still sucks. A number of people that I know don’t like the way it works.
The most annoying thing about the center console shifter is the gigantic amount of space they took away in the center console. Having your drink on the passengers side and as close as possible to the other cup holder sucks. Compared to the 2011 to 2023 trucks you have 1/4 of the space to put phone, keys, wallet, sunglasses, etc.

As a boat driver, the truck’s console shifter messes with my head. Have to think about things for a minute when I jump in the boat. #itsbackwards
