What moron made the new shifter?

I'm guessing the OP is coming from a column shifter and is new to console shifters.

I understand the basis for the complaint, but this is by no means a GM thing and I'm guessing if you would reverse it you would get even more complaints from those that have been using it the current way for their whole life.

Yeah, never owned a console shifter that wasn’t a manual. It’s P-R-N-D-L, who cares what BMW and Mercedes do. Last time I checked European Motorcycles didn’t have some dumb shift pattern.

Forward for Reverse just isn’t Natural for me but hopefully they don’t do this on the HD trucks anytime soon.

Sorry, the next generation of HD Trucks WILL have the same shifter

I don't have an issue with the pattern, as my Raptor was the same way. However, I like to hold onto the shifter when I accelerate but you have to be careful not to pull too hard and shift into MANUAL mode shifting. It should have a lockout.

I dont have an issue with the pattern, but have tripped myself up with D/L both being pull back.

On occasion I'll start my truck and pull the shifter back to put it in drive. Then I'll get distracted before I start moving, deal with the distraction, forget I'm already in drive, and pull back on the shifter again putting the truck in low.

Then I start driving and wonder why the engine is reving so high. Doesn't happen all that often, and its an easy fix, but still throws me off my game for a moment. Other vehicles I owned required you to pull the shifter to the side to put it in low.

I personally have this in my truck but I'm not a huge fan of how it's laid out, Park being a button on top, and sometimes I mistakenly shift into Neutral instead of Reverse. The whole thing is a bit wonky but I've only had it a couple of weeks.

I have done that a few times. I blame it on my age

The 10 speed works so well I just set it and forget it. Does not bother me that I push it forward as I am pausing to check mirrors and backup camera anyway.

In a loaner 2025 1500, Forward to Reverse and backward to Drive?

I’ve lost faith in GM- dumbest shifter I’ve ever seen. What’s next turn right to go left, gas pedal stops and brake pedal go’s!
Isn't that how column shifting works. Down for drive and up for reverse? That’s at least how my Ford was. It’s actually very logical from an engineering standpoint.

except for the stupid euro bikes with the shifter on the wrong side, oh or the reverse shift italian bikes where 1st is up not down... The shifter is still R-N-D/L, park is actuated by a button. It is literally the same order as it has always been. You are complaining about something because it is different from what your used to...
