Tint and emblems

It’s not easy. Option 1 is remove the grill but that requires loosening the fender flares and what not.

Option 2 is drink a few beers, study on it for a while and accidentally pull the stock emblem out by breaking it. Then the new one just snaps into place. You can reach your hand in between the motorized “slats” on the back side too…but fyi they pop out! It was a disaster at first but I won in the end. Mind over matter.

I did option #2 and luckily managed to get it installed!

Option #3 - Plastidip

Added 5% tint to the doors and rear. 55% on the windshield. Black AT4 badges and black GMC emblems. More to come.
Truck looks great!

And totally off topic....but I just bought my '24 AT4X from Ewing a week ago. Really nice dealership and worked a great deal with them!

I went for the (mostly) blackout option. I appreciate the “black chrome” that GMC threw on the AT4 and AT4x grille and side engine badge, So I’m going to leave that, but with the new black wheels and the Thunderstorm grey color, I felt the bright chrome emblems and badging was just Too much. So I’ve replaced all GMC/Sierra/AT4 badging with black options (with red left on the 4, but no chrome). Not for everyone, but I think it’s a pretty good, more subdued look.

Front and rear satin black surround with gloss black inner “GMC” emblems were purchased on eBay.

The “Sierra” and “AT4” gloss black emblems for the tailgate and front doors were purchased through GM. Easy enough install for all, but I also went for @Wakinvol’s option 2 on the front grille GMC emblems. I knew I wouldn’t want to go back to red and chrome emblems, so I took the old screwjy to the inner red parts of the GMC letters to remove them from the main chrome parts. Once they were removed, it is very easy to remove the individual GMC letters from the front grille using a small flathead.

Still debating on the black AT4 grille emblem

I decided to use plasti-dip on the front and rear GMC emblems. I bought the black/chrome replacements from GM but I really liked having the red so I took them off. I'm happy with it.

Now time to black out the chrome exhaust tips!

How well does the plastidip last if going through a car wash?
I used PlastiDip on my wife's 2016 Tahoe back in 2016 and it was still in perfect condition in August 2022 when we traded it in for her 2023 Yukon AT4. I "dipped" the bowties on the grille and tailgate.

55% on the windshield?? How do you see out of that bad boy!?
Just fine. Can't even tell its on there. Huge improvement at night with glare from headlights and I don't catch myself needing my sunglasses when driving as much now. Just got it done on my Telluride too.

My front lasted about 2yrs of weekly car washes before they started to pull from the center/red edges. The tailgate ones about 3 yrs.

I hand made custom LED fender emblems with company name. GMC Front And Rear emblems are LEDs and smoked and painted side emblems. I also created a led door sill that says AT4X. and of course- tint is Ceramic
