Subscription options

As I stated earlier, the speed limit signs come on when using you phone as a hotspot.
On my 2024 at4 2500 data subscription ran out.... I tried to link up my phone hot spot to the truck, but in vehicle wifi settings, where it says wifi networks it is not highlighted so when I press it, it does nothing. Is that normal? Or is that another thing OnStar turned off on their end, So I can't use external Wi-Fi services?

You need to enable Hotspot on your phone; create a hotspot name and assign a password and enable Allow Others to Join. Once you enable the hotspot you will see it in the list of networks available in your truck. I have it enabled both for my home wifi (when in the garage) and it automatically connects to my phone hotspot when I'm on the move.

Thank you for the reply. I have done all of the above, but what I'm saying is I can't get to the part to where the truck is supposed to recognize other Wi-Fi sources. Attached is a picture of my screen where Wi-Fi networks is not highlighted (When I press on Wi-Fi networks it doesn't go to the next step to where it should show the list of available networks) It won't allow me to get to that part to see the list of networks available in the truck.
I know when I had data,

it would allow me to do it.

That is so strange. Can you check your GMC account for which services you have? Although I let the 1 month free data plan lapse, I have remote access through 10/21/26 and Connected Access through 10/21/31. Can you please check what it says on your account.

I do have remote access and connected access services as well...
I found out what I didn't do... I enabled Wi-Fi access in the GMC App on my phone. When you said enable hotspot on your phone, I thought you meant the phone hotspot settings, not realizing you meant on the GMC app. (My mistake...)
It works good now, amazing.... Thanks again!

Awesome! Good to hear you figured it out.

Never pay the price they advertise haha. I just re-newed my onstar. They said it was 29.99 a month. I said, that's just too much. She came down to 20. I said if we can get closer to 15, I'm game. Locked in @ 14.99. I honestly haven't paid full asking price for much in my life. I'm not cheap by any means, but I've always enjoyed that little game of making a better deal. Just saying "any good guy discounts you can enter in there?". That one works a lot.

I need LTE while the truck is off for my dashcam in parking mode; if there was a way to keep the gmc incar hotspot switched on without leaving the keys in accessory position, I'd jump at renewing onstar. Any ideas anyone?

Does the price you locked in at include the ATT data plan or is that an additional $15. My Prefered Plus WiFi runs out next week and OnStar is quoting me $29 for the prefered plan plus $15 for data. When I asked about deals I was told the best they can do is $32.99 for a package with both plans, but only for 3 months.

They did ask if I had ATT as a provider, which I currently have, so maybe that helped me? I'm getting unlimited data/apps/wifi for 14.99 per month.

Finally got it to work with the Hotspot on my iPhone. When I opened the connections screen on the infotainment screen my home network, and many of my neighbors networks, were showing up but not my iPhone. I was able to get the iPhone working by manually entering the phone name using the add network button on the infotainment screen. Looks like I’ll be dumping Onstar once my current subscription runs out.

On your iPhone under Personal Hotspot, you need to have Allow Others to Join enabled; this setting is the hotspot broadcast setting and will then show on your GMC wireless networks infotainment screen.

I had personal hotspot enabled on the iPhone as well as maximize compatibility but the iPhone was not showing up as a possible connection in the truck. Once I added the iPhone manually however the truck found it and made the connection.

I guess this happens sometimes. The good thing is you only need to do it once and it will automatically connect almost every time.

I found a video on YouTube from a GMC dealer that stepped you through the process. Thought it was pretty cool that a dealer would show their customers how to avoid OnStar. There were a handful of comments where people said their phone wasn’t showing up so I guess it’s not all that uncommon.
