Stopped by the dealership ...

got a text over the weekend asking if i was still interested in purchasing a truck
i called and said they are supposed to be building it
he said well i was just seeing if maybe you might want a new one
i said does it get any newer than in the process of being built
he stuttered and said well if there is anything else we can help you with...
i said yes, you can build my truck
i live in a small town and wanted to avoid having to drive 40 or 50 miles away
to the dealership, (only 10 miles now)
it's like every other business out there (it seems)
once they get their money your in tow
they've got me where they want me (for now)
Heh, be prepared for that AFTER you have the truck in possession, too!! That, and within a week of taking possession, the 'Your truck's warranty has expired and you need to call us immediately so you don't have any lapse in warranty support'. emails and snail mails will start, and continue.

Fscking schills!! It's even hard to find out who the h3ll they are, and they make the mail look 'official', and scary.

i didn't like how if there was something you wanted, you had to get it with that package.
There was a fair amount of that with our order. "That only comes in this package." and "If you can't get that item on the truck, is that a deal breaker?" One of the items in question was the under rear seat storage. So, no, it didn't come with it, but we added it after getting it home.

The biggest reason we ordered was to make sure a bunch of crap that we DIDN'T want wasn't on the truck. We did not want a sunroof, for example, and there seems to be no trucks on dealer lots without sunroofs. We also wanted 18" wheels, but nothing on the lot had smaller than 20's, and most had 22's.

I'll have no choice but to order when my time comes around. There are almost zero AT4X trucks with the L8T gas engine and dual alternator/battery.

when i went by the dealership to get the code, i got a print out
didn't really think anything about it, but was looking and what caught my eye was the price was like 77, when the build sheet i had from the beginning was like 73
then noticed the red illuminated gmc on front was missing
went to the dealership and met with the salesman and owner
explained that where they got the truck build from that was sent to gm was not the truck i ordered. they said it would all be corrected and some things like the front gm would be installed when the truck comes in
i said all i know is as long as it is taking, if it is not what i ordered (shook the original papers at him) and said i will not accept the truck
they agreed and that's where we left it

don't know anymore than i did the day i walked in the dealership
they keep sayin', gm has it
im going to wait it out till after xmas, if its not here by then,
i'll get my money back and buy something else
it's a shame that this could have been fun and exciting,
instead it's going to leave a bad taste in my mouth
i could have told 10 people to run, not walk, to the dealership (because their good)
instead, i'll tell 30 don't bother

Do yourself a favor and go make a deal for this one…

stopped by the dealership today (5 month mark)
still no word
i told him i would give it till Christmas
if there's still no word, i will cancel a go find me a truck
so here we are...

Geez, 5 months.

Go build one online like you want. At the summary screen, make sure your zip code is correct and then increase to max radius (2,000 miles) and change search criteria to “match”. Unless you have an odd combo you should find an exact match (probably several). With a few exact matches or near exact change the criteria from “match” to lowest price. Now find the lowest priced vehicle with similar MSRP/options. If you’re lucky one of the exact matches will also be low dollar.

I’m not that lucky so I use a near match that is low dollar as leverage to negotiate down one of the dealers that has an exact match stating while I prefer X color they have I will save $Y and buy Z color instead if they don’t want to price match discounts.

And if the dealer isn’t close enough to drive to then negotiate to have them deliver it to you. Did this 2 vehicles ago. They trailered in my hot rod and trailered back my trade for $300. Dealer was out of state about 8 hours away.

It’s a shame but when the local dealers think they got you by the balls, you have to remind them they don’t eat unless you feed them.
