Solution to infotainment being blocked by shifter arm

First, I registered for this site by finding your post.
Second, this was the first thing I told my wife I didnt like about my truck when I got it home lol.
Third, Im very interested in this. Im really curious why we cant bend the shifter about an inch farther down. I was thinking about buying a spare one and taking it to a machine shop to ask how they would go about adjusting it farther down.
Definitely would be interested in seeing it if you did that. I feel like doing that or having a custom-made infotainment relocate would be ideal. Such a shame that GM overlooked/ignored this problem. Biggest issue with bending it would be the plastic distorting or breaking as well. Wonder if BL-customs could make new plastics for you after bending.

I have been considering bending it also. If successful it will be the ideal solution for me. Bending might require heat and then plastic shell and interior wiring will have to be protected somehow. I need to pull my shifter arm and start taking a look.

Problem Solved: Focus on the road and stop looking at Infotainment Screen :ROFLMAO:
I usually do just that, but I use the navigation every time I drive and the notifications tend to come up directly behind the shift knob, go figure. I don't really care that much about the notifications but I'm kind of a geek and it drives me nuts not having the information...

Who needs navigation. Be like Christopher Columbus, go where the road takes you, discover your destiny, be adventurous :)

Almost 5 decades ago, before cell phones and vehicle navigation, before I became a radio ham, armed with a large world atlas book (which I did not use), plus single hand written page directions from the AA (in England we have AA and here we have AAA), naming only capitals of countries we were driving through, my wife and I, drove all the way from London UK to New Delhi India and beyond without getting lost, except once briefly in the Turkish desert during a heavy sand storm.

I'm fine in the wilderness but unfortunately I have gone from a near eidetic memory to the potential for getting lost driving home from the store

You need something with an auto-pilot although would not trust one for road use (such as Tesla). Had installed one (myself) on my 36' Carver motor yacht controlling a stern drive; still had to watch the radar and visually for container and tanker ships crossing the English channel.

Anyone making progress on this?
I installed the modified shifter from BL Customs and it made a huge difference, it was easy to install and they have great customer support. I can't believe that GM didn't catch this issue.

Thank you for the photo that actually looks pretty clean. What model and year truck is that it's a bit different than my 2024 2500 AT4X AEV
