Phone Connection Issues

The picture below is what I see when I hit Users. There is no option to create a new user, login, or anything. All I can do here is click on guest and edit the name but as soon as I turn the truck off and back on it resets. I think this is something that has to be done at the dealership.

I seen a similar situation posted on Reddit and there were several solutions. Some said the dealership fixed it for them. One guy said he used the remote start option in his GMC app and guest mode went away for him. (I tried this method this morning and it did not work for me.) Many of them said to boot into safe mode. Several said this worked for them but many of them said it was stuck in safe mode. Another guy said he disconnected the battery and waited 5 minutes and his guest mode went away.

Respectfully, I’m not sure why this is such a problem. What you are trying to do is described in the owner’s manual.

Respectfully, I am aware of that. My point is, Create new profile is not an option for me.

I have an appointment at the dealership on Thursday for a USB upgrade to the infotainment system because they tried to create a new user as well and they could not.

It is not me.

Something is not right with the software in the truck.

Also to note, if you let your car connect to any wifi, you will have issues with connectivity on you car tonyour phone. Make sure to not keep the car connected to any wifi other than to update the system or apps.

That is all I have done so far, I have checked for updates several times to see if anything would come up and maybe I would get lucky and be able to create a profile.

I am hoping this USB update at the dealership fixes the issue. Its a bit annoying that I can't use the system as it is intended. I am not sure what the update will involve. I wish I knew.

1: Download the MyGMC App then you need to login using an existing Onstar/GMC email account or create one.

2: Have the truck in park with the engine on and only the key fob assigned to you.

3: Go to settings on the infotainment screen, then security, then add user.

4: Now go to connections trusted device and add device. Using your camera scan the code provided. It should open the MyGMC App on your phone to add trusted device. Once device is added select Auto Unlock.

5: Finally go back into security trusted devices and make sure unlock with iPhone or Android is enabled.
