Excuse my ignorance with this technology, I came from an 07 Silverado that had crank windows.

Can someone point me to some documentation to get my phone/truck setup so my phone connects automatically when I get in?

I did what the guy told me to do at the dealership, but every time I turn the truck off and back on, I have to pair my phone again.

I found a flyer that said something about adding it as a trusted device but it wont let me do that with a "Guest" profile.

Its in the settings of the stereo. I believe it even asks if you want it to remember. It might be under blue tooth. I turned my off. I hate when it connects without my permission. Especially if Im with other people because it starts playing music and my messages etc.

you‘ll have to pair your phone to your trucks radio..go to the Bluetooth setting in your phone and you should see something that says GMC or whatever your truck is.

Thanks, Ill take a look.

I did pair them but every time I turn the truck off and back on it seems to forget my phone and I have to pair them again. When I leave work at the end of the day I want to get in and turn some music on without having to pair my phone again. There has to be some kind of setting that the two devices remember that they are paired and connect automatically. Every Bluetooth device can do that, but I am having trouble finding it in the settings of this truck.

I watched a video of a guy setting it up and he had an option come up on his phone to remember that the phone and truck were paired with Apple Carplay. I did not get that setting. I followed the exact same steps that he did.

I wasn't sure if anyone had any documentation that covers this setup process further in detail to see if I am doing something wrong. It is really weird that the two devices do not remember each other.

I think you need to go into your phones bluetooth and hit on the gmc network and hit “forget this device”…. Then start all over with the pairing with the truck. When the icon pops up on apple car play to always connect this device first click yes.

Yea, that is the setting the guy in the video got. I did not see that when I set it up. I will try to mess around with it after work.

Thanks

Guest mode is probably the answer. But, in case that does not work i've also read that some salespeople are infamous for leaving the truck in "Demo" mode before selling it to you. It didn't happen to me so I cannot elaborate on the instructions on how to get it out of that mode, but some quick searching on this site or googling it for some youtube videos may help you out with that key word.

If you haven't done it yet, and you are running an Iphone, go to settings, general, and scroll down to carplay. I have copied a pic from mine, on pic it has a statement about car play and enabling it. That is how mine is set up on my truck and my company truck. It pairs everytime for me. IMG_9732.webp

The directions according to the GMC website says to click on Users and then click Create Profile.

i am pretty sure this is the case. I found a page on the GMC website that tells you how to create an account but when I click on Users, there is no option to create account.

I did this and mine looks basically like yours. It has mine and my wife’s car but it still won’t pair automatically.
