Phantom breaking. 2024 GMC Canyon AT4

I thought it worked once but can't be sure; I've only seen a pedestrian sign appear on the DIC once ever. I feel its not working in my truck any more, front or rear AEB. Can’t rely on brake assist. I’d like to know how we can verify it works.

I came up to a car on a city street a lot faster than I had expected today and had to break hard. Had I not I would have hit the car in front of me. I didn’t feel the truck take over and assist in breaking. I’m not sure how it determines when to help with breaking. I don’t know if this is only for driving at higher speeds or what????

Never bothered before but just checked there's a Near/Medium/Far collision detection setting which can be changed by a a button located on the steering wheel; its one on the left with a sign showing two vehicles. I need to play around with it.

Funny you should say that, the only time I ever had to manually execute emergency braking was a few months ago when a vehicle entered a roundabout right in front of me without looking left. My eye, brain and the annoying person in the other seat all screamed 'watch out' !

Instinct kicked in I guess, not automatic emergency braking. Watch until I reach the roundabout. Wife and grandkids were with me that day.

It is supposed to depending on following setting Near/Medium/Far collision setting however have yet to experience it first hand.

My 24 2500 at4 did this twice on the highway when I had the adaptive cruise control on…I switched to the normal old cruise control and have not had the issue happen again. I also turned off the rain sensitive wipers…way to sensitive.

I have a 2024 canyon at4 I bought in October 2024. Shortly after getting it I noticed it would break on highway with no one in site. Had it at dealer 6 times now. They have replace my windshield camera, reloaded the software several times but nothing has fixed it. They tell me they have involved gmc Canada for assistance in getting it fixed. As of today my truck is at the dealer as they try to resolve it. They say there are no error codes so they dont know what’s wrong. Not feeling very confident right now

My wife is driving 2024 GMC Canyon AT4 around 40 miles an hour with no cars in site
it automatic braked lights flashed auto braking . She hit the gas pedal to try and release it and it breaked hard again causing her to swerve right and almost exit the road on a 2 Lane Highway. We are having it towed to the nearest dealer. Anyone else have this issue and what is the fix?

Interesting issue. I have a 2023 AT4 and the truck has twice shown a warning light and braked without anything in front of me. Luckily this has only happened twice in 9K miles.

Just turn the feature off… that said I like it and occasionally the sun will set it off.. fetter then my plowing a car in front of me because I’m thinking about something stupid

I recently purchased the 2025 GMC Canyon AT4, and I would like to turn mine off, although it is giving me a warning on my dash, anyway to get rid of this without having the emergency braking on?

I think GMC tried to flood the truck with "GADGETS" to try to compete with competition. Perhaps with safety equipment and the TECHNO geek types. Anyways mine has done the same thing and I learned after the two previous occasions to just slow down and it goes off. Been in the shop twice now.

I am having the same problem. Purchased my 24 canyon AT4 a year ago and problem appeared within a month of purchase. It has been in shop at least 6 times now. They have reloaded the software multiple times and replaced the windshield camera. Problem still exists. Recently did a 8 hour trip to another city. On way to destination the problem appeared 7 times. On way home it appeared 16 times. It’s always the same thing, the green vehicle icon appears then my truck breaks slowing between 2 and 15 kph the green icon goes out and truck accelerates back to cruising speed. The most recent incidents were where my truck did the break then accelerate 4 time in rapid succession. A couple of them were scary incidents in that driver behind me was not expecting me to break on a highway when no other vehicles were in sight. I’m told GM Canada has been engaged but still no solution. They better find the issue fast before one of us become a fatality because of this issue. I do a lot of highway driving and the adaptive cruise was a key option for me. Getting very frustrated!
