That has been their stance for at least 25 years that I know of. In 2001 my company had a 3500 with an 8.1 and it used a quart every 500 and they deemed it okay.A quart every 500 miles is okay with gm?
Sounds like the 2 stroke Detroit! I'd just change the filter once a year. No need to change the oil. It's always fresh!
UPDATE
wanted to update this, i am now just under 3k miles since i added 2 qts of oil. and believe it or not has not lost a single drop ! I have checked it every weekend and have been driving hard just to test this, as well as pulling a trailer about 100 miles. SOOOOO the only thing i can think of is that the dealership just straight up didn't put the correct amount from the last change.
