Not many locations selling Low sulfur Diesel

The gas tax is just the last most visible ta added along the way. Think of all the other nutball hoops the product has to get though on it's way to the pump. From special California blends to regulation and taxes from the point it leaves the ground.
A big production cost is the ethanol. It cannot be piped into the terminals. It's transported by rail, truck or ship. From the alcohol FOB origin to when the additive is blended (to make it undrinkable) ATF has eyes on it at all times. The average motoring public has no clue as to the security involved with transporting pure grain alcohol in its drinkable form before blending it then transporting/pumping into storage tanks.

Same goes for red die off road diesel. Since it's tax exempt ATF is all over it when transporting and selling it.

That sentence might be a little extreme. Atleast around here in farming country. Died diesel is nowhere watched or regulated.

My fuel guy adds the dye to regular #2 road fuel picked up at the terminal. Yes, the DOT guys might dip your tank on a roadside inspection, but the ATF has nothing to do with farm diesel.

It been years since I've heard of anyone being dipped. I have heard of the DOT dipping pickups in the 80's, parked at the livestock sale barns. But nothing since y2k.

I farm a few miles from the pipeline, a few miles south of I-80. It follows I-80 for, I don't know how long, but there are terminals like this all along the interstate, you just don't see them, in Nebraska. I believe it was put in the same time as the interstate, for USA security. I know there are some in Iowa, don't know about other States along I-80.

Anyway, we don't have transportation costs added to our fuel prices. 😁

See circle area...

I know for a fact that there are full auto rifles deployed at check-in.

And to add for fun... there is a separate road that runs along the highway next to the terminal. That is why the satellite view looks like a 3 lane highway! 😁 No more than 3 vehicles are allowed in the terminal yard at a time.

There are times when 30 or more semi tankers are waiting to fill, setting outside on the access road.

Agriculture is a whole different deal and is very loosely regulated in regards to the transportation end of things. I sometimes think Nebraska would be a very cool state to reside in!!

I feel the difference towing.
Noticeably less power with bio diesel and with the renewable / sustainable diesel.

Supposed to have better lubrication to the pump with them.
That’s what I read.
No issues & I change the fuel filter at 25% left.

Costco and 76 stations sell it out here and occasionally at Flying J.

Huh, here is an article that was in my inbox this morning.

Looks like CA's gas tax is 61 cents, doesn't say what diesel is taxed at, but why is CA gasoline so much higher then? NE is $2.50 for E10.

Calif spends $4 to every $1 Texas spends on roads. How that Calif road use money is distributed and spent is a black hole.

Also Calif spends gas tax money on non highway related things.

100%!! HUGE black hole. Don't get me wrong. I love my state. However the fuel and road taxes are a money pit scam to hard working taxpayers.

A pleasant surprise was when I was traveling through Galveston TX. I was excited to ride my motorcycle on the ferry across the bay. More exciting was it was zero cost to do it. My good friend in Buda TX explained that the ferries are part of the TX highway system.

And also want to thank you for your service Sir. I was in the Sea Bees during the end of the cold war.

Elections have consequences. Here in Cali fuel prices only go up.
No doubt. Our majority of voter base consists of: Hardened felons/illegal immigrants (which are allowed to vote because they are not checked), homeless drug addict bums, single mothers on welfare and general low life dregs living off the government.

The hardworking taxpayers who served in the military and bust their butt for living are a very small portion of this socialist state.

CARB is one of the very worst run agencies in our state. It's perfectly fine to tax the crud out of fuel and then turn around and spend it on more useless regulations and pad social services to give free handouts.....
