I just found this site and have already found some helpful info. I just recently ordered a 2026 GMC AT4X-AEV with the diesel. This will be my first diesel engine, second HD type truck (the first was a while ago). I've owned two Dodge's, a 1500 first, then a 2500 in the 90s and early 00s. I liked those trucks. Due to some life changes I down sized to a Tacoma from ~06 - 18 (two, one used, one new, both were great, both got full frame replacements tho). In 2018 I got a Tundra (my current truck). It's time for a new truck and due to Toyota's poor decision to make the the new Tundra with a turbo 6, that's not an option. It's a good truck that's treated me well, no issues with it.
I didn't due a lot of looking/research for a new truck and decided on the GMC pretty quickly. I did take some time going thru various builds, options, etc. and finally said screw it and decided on the diesel AEV. To be honest, I currently have no real need for this truck but I wanted it. I don't have anything to tow but that will likely change soon with a small boat. I do 'need' a 4wd for fishing and some some light off road use. I live in CT but travel to NC and will likely retire there and maybe a small place on the gulf in a few years. So, to some extent, I'll grow into the truck but again, it's more truck than I need - but I wanted it. I've always settled a little with past trucks, not this time.
I'm just stating to go down the diesel rabbit hole and Im realizing I have a good bit to learn but I have some time, 3-5 months for the truck to arrive. I'm sure this site will be helpful. Right now I'm looking into general maintenance (probably finding a shop vs the stealership), cold weather use, fuel additives, etc.
