Need a 12v power supply in bed

I use this to backfeed a battery maintainer, instead of opening up the hood and attaching to battery posts.
Are you saying you have a plug for your battery maintainer/charger (or the SAE plug) wired into a 7-way plug using only the positive and negative posts, and it charges both your truck batteries with no issue? Sorry for being dense. Idk why I have never thought of this. It is so simple yet effective if so.

Yes, homemade, but easy...

Genius! I'm definitely going to do this for the odd chance that I need to maintain the batteries, but more for if I have to plug something in.

I do this also, in my GMC and my Jeep.

I'd get a cheap jump start power station, they usually have a 12v receptical. You could plug it into the 120 to keep it topped off.

Do these 7-pin to SAE plugs work on the newer (2024+) models? I just tried and no power as I think the truck is detecting a trailer is not attached
Yes, they do. You should have 12v+ always when truck is off or on, even on gm's new Global B system.

I would check the 12v+ fuse. I have blown that fuse before on numerous occasions! The 12v+ is the only hot circuit you can test with a DVM or test light.

***GROUP WARNING*** Unhook your 7way, before using the lift on a dump trailer, every...single...time! 😃 Atleast until you put a relay in the charge circuit on the trailer.

I have not put a load on it but I have confirmed I have 12 volts there at all times. Just to see if it would work I actually hooked up a battery maintainer to the 7 pin and it topped off the battery.

The other pins do not work for me because no trailer detected. I bought a 7 pin tester and confirmed the tester works by putting it in the Jeep but doesn't work on the truck. Only shows the always on 12v not brake, turn etc.

I get no 12v power at the bumper 7-pin. When plugged into the trailer I get 12v to the trailer battery. so just ran wire directly from truck battery to a SAE plug installed in bed
