Truck is a 2019 Sierra Denali with all the bells and whistles. I bought it used and I’m very happy with it.

However, the horn sounds like it came off a child’s toy, but that’s being generous. The truck is stock, so I’m assuming it’s the factory horn.

I’m not interested in a train horn or something obnoxious. I’m not interested in a device that plays different sounds. I just want a horn that sounds like a full sized truck’s horn.

Has anyone upgraded their factory horn to something more…manly?

Thanks in advance.

Terry

I tried a few different ones and was not happy with them. I then tried this PIAA set and am very happy with it. I have no desire for a train horn set up, but wanted a good volume low to mid tone and this set gave me what I wanted. It is lauder and lower than the stock twin horn set up. I removed my OEM horns that are in the front fender area, used the OEM wire as the signal wire and used a relay and power from the battery just to ensure I did not overload the factory wiring. Probably didn’t need the relay but not hard to hook up. I used the bracket that the OEM horns were on and put the PIAA horns on it to reuse the OEM mount. Also moved the horns behind my front grill rather than being buried between the fender and fender liner.

I never use the horn and forget what it even sounds like. No road rage issues here; I mean who wants to tackle a full size towering 3/4 ton black beast with blaring fog and head lamps, although I never intimidate anyone.

I’m not sure what road rage has to do with the horn, but thanks I guess?

Some of us use our trucks for work and there are situations where you are required to use it for the safety of others at the job site.

Hopefully my truck can develop the same mystical aura in which everyone is aware of its existence at all times and the foremen at the job sites I visit give me a pass to ignore the safety rules.

I added a single horn air driven horn under the radiator shroud and wired to my aux switches. Easy mounting. The single horn gets their attention for sure but not so much that it’s crazy loud in the cabin. I wanted something up higher than a spare tire delete kit for a compressor.
You can see the horn tucked up high i used the radiator support bolts as a point of attachment. There are no temp issues with the potential airflow reduction coming into that area.
