Coming out of a '23 GMC Canyon AT4X, the thing I hated the most between the Canyon and the Sierra was the steering wheel. The new style steering wheel in the Canyon AT4X felt amazing and the controls where perfect placed and the feedback was great. It was comfortable and the heating was great. My 2025 Tahoe has the same steering wheel and it is just so much better than this skimpy old outdated crap they ship in this truck. I sure hope the 27's fix this with the current wheel.
Now, everyone has probably seen the Chinese steering wheels on eBay and Facebook Marketplace. But I am here to tell you, they are very nice, the finish is amazing, and it takes about 20 mintues to install. It was about 300 bucks and the only thing you need to be careful is to have a true T50 Torx bit and at least a 24" breaker bar. Anything less will lead to striped Torx bolts, $8 on amazon for a replacement.
I read the reviews and bought a replacement bolt ahead of time. I tried my Milwaukee 1/2 impact first and twisted a T50 in half. I grabbed a second T50 and my 24" breaker and after 3 very sickening Pops of the threadlocker releasing, it came right off. There are tons of videos on Youtube to help.
I find myseld back to the feeling i had the first few weeks just wanting to drive the truck again. I never thought something like a steering wheel was so crappy until now.
