MPG's???

I have a 2022 3.0L I have only had my truck about 2 weeks and I've put about 700 miles on it. When I have multiple stop and go with redlights and inside a neighborhood i get about 23 mpg. And i get closer to 30 in the interstate. My top for 50 miles is 35mpg. I have a roll n lock bed cover and I'm running wrangler territory MT.

I'm almost at 1,000 miles on my refresh 6.2 and i'm only getting 9-10MPG around town. Not hard on the gas at all and I know I didn't buy this thing for the MPGs but just curious how long it took for some of you to see 13-14 that I see in this thread?
Mine has been higher than that since new. lately I've been mixing some premium in ever other tank. I'm still averaging 12 to 14 if I'm driving aggressively, and on highway road trips I can get 18 to 22 depending on the hills. I'm sure my 35" mud tires don't help, and honestly the sound of the cat-back system forces me to stomp the skinny pedal way more than I should. :) But it's nice to know I "can" get up to 22 with it on the highway.

Thanks! Interesting you have MTs, stomp the pedal and still get better than I do stock! What part of the country are you in? I’m in GA. I know elevation and outside temp can play a factor as well.

I'm in western/upstate NY (just north east of Rochester) I swear that 10 speed transmission makes all the difference for me. I don't have any hills around where I live now so that helps. It's interesting to see that so many people have different experiences with basically the same vehicles though.

How's the truck drivability doing with all that snow you have up there?

I'm actually close the the southern shore of Lake Ontario so we didn't get hit. Places an hour east of me got a few feet, and an hour south west of me got 5 feet. But we were lucky.

I live in SW Michigan. With stock suspension and stock wheels/tires, I got 20mpg over 10k miles. This is with the short box, 6.2. The only modification was a Corsa cold air intake. My daily commute is 35 hilly and mostly highway miles(each way) and I usually find a semi and draft behind them on adaptive cruise at around 65mph. Nights and weekends, I drive a lot of very hilly roads with a lot of stop/go. My best 50 mile fuel economy is 28.4mpg but that was all highway and drafting the whole time. Now that I've leveled it and put on bigger tires(295/60/20 Baja Boss A/T) with a -22 offset wheels, the avg. mpg has gone down to 15.5 combined. On the highway, taking it easy, I get about 18mpg and city/weekend driving I get about 14mpg. I also do not run premium. I've tried it several times and noticed no difference in performance, sound, or fuel economy, so I stick with regular. We got about 2 feet of snow last week and that was my first opportunity to drive this truck/tire combo in the snow and it performed beautifully but my city mpg went down to 11.5.

I'm with @Riverdog on the mileage. 6.2 but do a lot of towing with my 17ft fishing boat and 24ft pleasure boat. I get about 17 with the fishing boat and 14 with the pleasure boat. When I'm not hooked up, I get about 15-17 in town, 21 on highway trips. I do have, keep and use the stop/start feature, have the factory performance (cold air and borla).
Just did a run from PA to NJ about 100 miles. Got just about 20 MPG. My truck is 100% stock 2022 at4 w/ 6.2. Keeping the RPM around 1500-1700 keeps the 6.2 sipping.

2023 AT4 w the 3.0L, bought in march of 2023 and after 2000 miles and (4) fill-ups i'm pretty steady around 24mpg, pretty well split between city and highway. 50mi best so far is 30.8. First time to own a diesel, so far so good. Dealer provided about 3/4 full on the DEF, down to 1.5 bars but no refill needed yet.

Depends what motor you have.
Have a 21 with 3.0l diesel. Gone on several trips from Tx to NM and Tx to Fl. In 28k miles the best I’ve gotten was going on cruise control 75 from Orlando to Corpus Christi. I got almost 28 mpg. I normally go 80 which on a long trip will drop it to 23.8 ish.
There have been times where the best was higher but it was only for 60-70 miles at 65mph. I don’t count those if it’s short distances.

Bringing this one back from the dead, but has anyone noticed their mpg change drastically with ambient temps? On a trip back from Mammoth in June, temps were well over 100° in the desert and I was getting almost 14mpg highway (it’s pretty much all flat or downhill). As soon as I got closer to the coast and temps got below about 80° I got closer to the 17/18mpg I’m used to. I noticed this again today with just the normal temperature change from day to night.

I know the topic of colder air being more efficient is a debate that’s split entire families up… I’m running the factory “performance” intake on a 6.2

Anyone else notice this?

I have the 3.0l, so not the same truck, but I haven’t seen a difference in mpg based on temp or even altitude really. At least nothing that large.

Were you passing a lot coming down the 395? People tend to really get on the gas getting out of those small/slow towns and when they pass others. These trucks are so smooth, you can get over 80mph without even realizing it.

Definitely wasn’t passing anyone. I usually keep my speed around 70-75

I have the 6.2 V8. Not expecting fuel efficiency out of this truck. Not why I bought the truck. Lol. But it just seems lower than it should be. Just wondering if it’s not running as efficiently as it should be.
Window sticker does not show 20/23 in the 6.2, that is what the sticker shows for an AT4 3.0 diesel
