What's everyone getting MPG's on their stock AT4 setups? (18's). I know what is listed on the window sticker is not realistic (20city 23hwy). But right now around town I have to consciously drive the truck to maintiain around 13 mpg. That's babying the throttle. If I'm just driving and not paying attention I'll be down in the 11 mpg's no problem.. On hwy trip I've gotten up to 21MPg best so far. On the freeway's, once I get up to speed and can run in a higher gear at lower rpm I'm averaging around 17mpg.

Does that sound about normal for everyone else? I know I heard some rumors about some transmission issues at about 3500 miles. Truck does feel like my rpm's run high in the lower gears. (Maybe not as smooth out of 1st/ 2nd) Was just curious if that might be causing the lower gas milage.

Curious as to how that stacks up to others experiences so far.

I do a bit better in town; it’s a small town and a bit rural but very busy traffic in the downtown area. Last tank was 16.9. Just filled up 2 days ago, current 50 mile avg is 15.1 , current 400 mile avg is 17.2 but thats a mix of town and road trips. Now, I don’t ever feel the need to be the first person at the next light but I stay with the traffic and I run on the cruise almost exclusively; I probably drive with my left thumb as much or more then my foot.
road trips are consistently in the 19 - 21 range , cruise control always.
Above numbers are based on 9500 miles SN.
if your in the <15 range in town your not babying it

Yeah I’m in Orange County. We’ve got a lot of stop and go here. Also working from home. So the driving I’m doing during the day is a lot of surface streets. Thats probably my issue….

What motor do you have?

I have the 3.0l Duramax and when I first got the truck I put 600 miles on a trip to fresno and back on the stock setup. I got 22 mpg avg on that trip. After 1,000 miles my avg is 20mpg, a mix of highway and city. I just added 35's and drove to Big Bear and back and got an avg of 19.5 for the 140 miles. I'm not babying it, but also not a lead foot... yet.

I have the 6.2 V8. Not expecting fuel efficiency out of this truck. Not why I bought the truck. Lol. But it just seems lower than it should be. Just wondering if it’s not running as efficiently as it should be.

2021 6.2. Have 5100 Bilstein on front for about additional 1” lift. Factory wheels and tires. Ranchhand cattle guard. Pull trailer about 20% of time. Almost 18,000 miles and have documented every fill up since 100 miles. Average MPG thru 18,000 miles= 15.4

It’s the stop and go that kills you. You just need to stick with it and let it average out over the long haul. I have logged every tank since 500 miles new and now at 9700 I show 16.7 on the truck and 16.75 on my log. It the long haul steady speed that it excels at.
Now , when i attach my 4500 pound camper and pull it to Colorado and back i get (hopefully) 12 or so. It all works out.
I think it is running at the edge of its efficiency curve as it is; if you start it REAL slow you can feel the first three or four shift points; they are like 200 rpm apart .

I have the 6.2L with the 10 speed. I've also got 20" rims with 35's on them. On the highway (flat roads) I can get 22 mpg. If I get into a lot of hills then it creeps down to 18 or 19 depending on how fast I'm driving. My commute to work is 17 miles down back roads......I tend to drive it aggressively and I average 14 to 16 mpg. - but that's no stop lights or traffic. I'm sure in a city environment the stop and go would hurt.

Stock 21 1500 AT4 diesel, leveled. On highway doing 75mph some relatively small hills, no wind, no traffic, cruise on, taching 1550, getting 26+ mpg. At 70 getting 28+. Combined mpg with 70% highway getting 24. All verified at fillups and using PowerService additive. Pretty impressive in my book. Wind definitely makes a difference.

I'm with @Riverdog on the mileage. 6.2 but do a lot of towing with my 17ft fishing boat and 24ft pleasure boat. I get about 17 with the fishing boat and 14 with the pleasure boat. When I'm not hooked up, I get about 15-17 in town, 21 on highway trips. I do have, keep and use the stop/start feature, have the factory performance (cold air and borla).

I have the same results as @asdiscus2b. I have a refreshed 2022 1500 AT4 with the 3.0 diesel. Got it in May and it has 7500 miles on it. I’m averaging 25mpg with 60/40 city/highway mix. Driving 70th or lower and I can definitely see 28-30mpg but I normally drive closer to 80-85mph.
