Is it worth putting the GM "performance" exhaust on my AT4?

Its "off" by default. It only opens up when you're in sport mode.

I am not sure if I should start a thread on this or not, but worth noting that I just bought a 24 AT4 with the active exhaust. I was naive and ordered a Borla Touring kit for the 2023 thinking it would fit on my 2024. I had the Touring on my 2015 5.3 that I traded in and quite liked it.

Just before cutting the stock muffler out, I noticed the electronic valve near the muffler for the active exhaust. The Borla kit didn't have anywhere for the valve to mount (makes sense) so I just packed the Borla kit back up back into the box and I am returning it.

I've only got 400km on the truck so still learning. The truck does remember what mode you were in between starts, and leaves the exhaust valve in the place it was when it was shut off. When you do a cold start in sport mode it sounds GREAT. Cold starts without are what you'd expect from a stock truck. For me this eliminates the need for an aftermarket exhaust, and its nice to have the quiet option if you want it.

Too bad I ordered the exhaust before picking up the truck, or I could have saved myself some hassle.

thanks! does sport mode burn more gas you think?

My 6.2L has the factory performance package installed on it. I wanted a little rumble on this truck and I could not be happier with it. Just the right amount in my opinion.
Mine gets delivered tomorrow. do you use sport mode for the active exhaust? if so, does it impact fuel performance as well?

I can't say for sure. It holds the gears longer, and gives a snappier response off the line. If you were on the highway I don't think it would be much different in mileage, but maybe ripping around town. Would come down to how you drive it I think.

I'm shopping for a 24 1500 or 2500 and really happy to see the option for active exhaust on the 24 1500's. I have active exhaust on my 392 Rubicon and absolutely love it. I run in performance mode 99% of the time. I really only used quiet in the drive through or when I had my old girlfriend with me, got rid of her. It should not have a negative effect on fuel efficiency whatsoever, it just opens up the exhaust system for more flow=more sound. If you hit it hard in quiet mode it opens automatically.

In the GMC do you have to put the truck in sport mode to get performance exhaust mode? My Jeep is selectable for either one.
