Is it worth putting the GM "performance" exhaust on my AT4?

nope, left the flapper and both resonators. Just cut the muffler out and replaced it with stainless straight pipe. It is sorta growing on me, sounds great every time I fire it up.

I *think* the GMC performance exhaust is the Borla Touring which I believe is their mildest exhaust. Attak is their rowdiest, S-type in the middle.
Maybe I’m missing something but when I build out my AT4 there is only one cat back option on their website. Are there other options through the dealership that they can install once the truck arrives? Thanks.

No I think the GM performance exhaust is the only option they sell at the dealership. But that option is built by Borla.....and that series of cat back systems typically have 3 different mufflers ordered by sound (touring,S-type,atak) and most people seem to think the touring is the GM one. I've had the muffler delete for a month now and I'm thinking about ordering an S-type muffler and trying that ( while keeping the flapper and resonators). I like the sound of my exhaust but at highway speeds the droning just gets old.

Yeah, I was never a fan of the way deletes sounded. Will probably go ahead and get the cat back option when I build it out.

My concern is that I've seen some youtube videos that claim even swapping just the atak muffler ( not the entire cat back system) has drone as well. so I'm concerned that if I spend the money on the S-type muffler I might still have drone ( and wasted money.) But I don't see why I need to spend $1800 to replace a bunch of brand new pipes with their cat back system....I guess I'm just cheap lol ( and I had just dropped $4k in other accessories)

I put the Borla ATAK on mine over the weekend, along with a K&N series 63 CAI. Oh lord, it’s loud!! Pretty sure I went full redneck! 🤣 I will upload a video if I can figure out what file size is allowed.
New to this world...if I replace the air intake do I need to get a tune?

I have been running the GMC Accessory Borla exhaust since 11/2022 when I bought my AT4X. Dealer installed for only $100 which you cannot beat. All purchased through the accessory website. Maintains full OEM warranty on a high quality, T-304 SS system. This is the Borla S-Type sound level and not Touring. I could not be happier. Start up is quite loud, zero drone and the classic GM small block truck sound. There are some very detailed videos on YouTube with a guy with a blue Chevy ZR2 that express the system sound well. I’m linking to it below. He has multiple videos to check out.

Enjoy

Is there an option to turn off the active exhaust feature on the 24s?
Its "off" by default. It only opens up when you're in sport mode.

I am not sure if I should start a thread on this or not, but worth noting that I just bought a 24 AT4 with the active exhaust. I was naive and ordered a Borla Touring kit for the 2023 thinking it would fit on my 2024. I had the Touring on my 2015 5.3 that I traded in and quite liked it.

Just before cutting the stock muffler out, I noticed the electronic valve near the muffler for the active exhaust. The Borla kit didn't have anywhere for the valve to mount (makes sense) so I just packed the Borla kit back up back into the box and I am returning it.

I've only got 400km on the truck so still learning. The truck does remember what mode you were in between starts, and leaves the exhaust valve in the place it was when it was shut off. When you do a cold start in sport mode it sounds GREAT. Cold starts without are what you'd expect from a stock truck. For me this eliminates the need for an aftermarket exhaust, and its nice to have the quiet option if you want it.

Too bad I ordered the exhaust before picking up the truck, or I could have saved myself some hassle.
