Illuminated emblem

Not too bad. Tricky part is removing existing emblem inlays without breaking them if you’re looking to save them. Overall plugnplay. There’s some good videos on Youtube.
EVERY YouTube video and the GMC installation instructions, used a far more complex approach to completing this install task.

I believe my approach is far better than, following the included GMC installation directions…

PRO TIP:
I went to the Parts Department, had them print up a copy of how the front grill is connected, to the rest of the front end.

I first OPEN the Hood, then took off… the plastic upper shroud. (located along the top of the grill)

Remove the upper shroud. It is held on with plastic clips. Remove bolts on top of grille.

Between the FRONT grill and interior Air Flow louvers…

FROM THE REAR of the “GMC” NON illuminated Grill Logo BLACK Mounting Bracket

(with a Phillips head screwdriver) removed the (4 each) screws (located on the back of the existing “GMC” NON illuminated Grill Logo BLACK Mounting bracket. The three letters “G” ”M” “C” are mounted to this BLACK mounting bracket.

THE ENTIRE BLACK GMC Logo Mounting bracket and the THREE “G” “M” “C” letter all are removed together.

After removing the BLACK GMC Logo Mounting bracket… Each of the three letters “G” “M” ”C” can be easily / carefully removed and saved WITHOUT breaking them into a bunch of pieces. (In order to remove the existing letters from its BLACK mounting bracket)

REVERSE the steps, for the install.

The wiring of this illuminated GMC Logo, is very easy to understand… (it’s using the kit provided wiring harness) splicing into the driver side head light assembly “male to female” connection, completing a “splice” into the existing wiring harness.

The above picture (taken during the daytime) does not do the illuminated GMC Logo justice.

That’s how I did mine….. but I went to go do a Denali and it doesn’t have the black surround piece so I gotta pull the whole grille 🤬. Thanks for the write up though good to have

The non-refresh Denali is the same. I used plastic trim tools to break the "rivets" on the red plastic letters prying them off the chrome letters. Then it is extremely easy to remove the chrome letters from the grill.

If you ever wanted to reinstall the non illumimated letters, a person could use whatever adhesive to reattach the red letters.

On the AT4hd, I wasn't so careful removing the red letters, as I had two other sets, and dinged the edges getting the first "rivets" freed. I found out the gm replacement letters are inexpensive.

Great write-up man. I did mine very similar.
