Here’s how I think the AT4 stereo happened….

I just had the Kicker Sub installed on my 22 Refresh AT4. The subwoofer level seems to be controlled by the bass adjustment on the GM head unit. It will rattle the back seat if you max it out.
Over all it is a big improvement over the Bose only sound. The 19 speaker Harmon Karman in my last Jeep Grand Cherokee was much better. I am pleased with the upgrade. I do think the lousy Google software is dumbing down the sound when I use lossless audio on apple music. It seems like what ever software programing/patch that the dealer installed for the Kicker makes sound come out of the rear speakers!! (Bose must have got a deal on used Yugo rear speakers)

Down the road I will have to replace the shitty paper Bose speakers. I should not have to spend money on sound system upgrades on a 73k truck. I did cut the old under seat storage and reinstalled on the jack side. Saw it done on the ZR2 Forums.

Took a new at4x for a test drive and specifically tested out the Bose system. I mean it’s not as bad as people think in my opinion. I mean compared to my alpine system in my ram rebel yeah it’s not as loud but it still loud enough. It doesn’t have the thump or clarity but the Bose system is passable at best lol

The AT4X has a better system than the AT4. Bose 12 speaker w/sub vs Bose 7 speaker. GMC should make the 12 speaker system a option in the AT4. The Bose in the AT4 is very muddy and only seems to come out of the four front speakers.

Between adjusting the bass knob and the equalizer while driving around these last few days, I have tuned it just right. Sounds really good. My question is can I now unplug the bass knob. I really don’t want to mount that thing anywhere and was hoping to just set it and forget it.

How can we tell if we have a kicker subwoofer already? I thought this subwoofer was already included with the Bose system. Also, what does the bass controller look like and where is the amp located?

The Bose system does have a subwoofer (if you want to call it that) that comes with the truck located under the center console. It really sucks so a lot of people like me went out and purchased the GM Kicker sub that is sold separately. It comes with an amp on it and you have to buy the base controller separately as well 40 bucks on Amazon.

Aw okay, the subwoofer under the center console is what I was thinking of. I now see that the kicker subwoofer goes underneath the rear seat.

If you're dialed in, I would think you could toss the controller or maybe just coil it up and leave the knob with the sub under the seat.
While my version doesn't have the ability to add the bass knob, I'm really starting to enjoy the sound and I'm using the head unit less for adjusting to different songs and music genre. I would not want to be without the kicker sub.

I just got one with the 20% sale and GM bucks........ $500 on the way!
You’re lucky. The website was finally working?? I called them when it was down and they said “sorry-don’t know what to tell you.” Pissed me off because the sale was only until 6/30.

A local GMC dealer hooked me up and I think I had to use my phone to make the purchase.......
Was the only way to bypass the error message! I would have posted that but did it on 6/30 as well!

for those on the fence, just took a road trip listening to XM radio, and I don't know if a subwoofer has a break in period but this thing keeps getting better, or maybe I've finally found that adjustment point that works for us, turning the Bose system into something more. My 13 yr old grandaughter was loving it, telling me it's about time that Papa has some kick butt music in his truck. LOL. I also got the 20% off on mygmc.com

Sure, rub it in Okie lol. Glad it is working for you. It is pretty nice once you get it dialed in and it’s a shame it doesn’t come from the factory that way. I agree with you, a must have in these trucks.
