Here’s how I think the AT4 stereo happened….

I read all the negative posts about these stereos while I was waiting for my truck to arrive and thought “it can‘t be that bad”. Well, it is. And here is how it happened.…

Reps from Kicker and GM went golfing one day and Kicker proposed a bet for the round that day. If Kicker won, GM would agree to advertise a premium Bose system in their new GMC trucks but in instead provide a lackluster bass less audio sound, then allow Kicker to advertise on GM’s website the subwoofer solution. Now GM, being the cooperate almighty that they are, gladly accepted this bet thinking there was no way Kicker could win. Little did they know Kicker had a 4 time national champion golfer from the University of Oklahoma on the tee box ready to go. Needless to say Kicker beat GM by 6 strokes that day and now full grown ass men like me are walking into the dealership shopping for subwoofers…..

Bravo Kicker…..Bravo.

Cmon man cut me some slack. I’m from Nebraska and sometimes we forget there is an OSU. But you’re right.

I don't doubt that, but here is a 2nd theory: GM sold their soul to google for a years worth of cost savings, then were forced by contract to shotgun wedding themselves into audio and software hell. I did read somewhere that somebody wired a second sound system into the Bose speaker system, and said the bass was amazing after that. I figured it before, but now I know google is dumbing down the audio before it hits the speakers.

Need a google filter.

Here is the solution I went with; a Fox Acoustics box that fits under the passenger side rear seat fitted with a Sundown Audio SA12 with 700 watts. Cut the factory underseat storage to maintain storage on the driver’s side. Much better than the factory kicker option, from what I gather.

Thank you for the reply. I already went with the factory kicker option because I had GMC points and it was affordable. It is much better but still not right. I think if I could get more out of the rear speakers it would help. Not sure what to do and still working on it. I miss the immersive sound that my 17 Denali had that was factory stock.

Got the bass knob for my factory Kicker last night and it made a big difference.

Where did you order the sub from? Mine no longer has the jack for the remote knob, or so I was told. A call to Kicker tech support said they no longer were doing that. You did well getting a unit that still had the option. Did yours also have the 6 dip switches for gain adjustment?

I ordered the sub from the local GMC dealer and I also thought mine didn‘t have the jack because I read they weren‘t doing that anymore. But theres a little rubber plug underneath the wiring harness on the amp. I pulled it out and there it was! I would assume that I have the dip switches as well but I am not sure what to do with those even if I found them.

Now you've got me wondering. As soon as it isn't 110 deg here, I'll have to get busy and see if my amp has the rubber plug. The dealership that installed it said no but they might not have been familiar with it. Thanks for the reply
I've read there's 6 dip switches if you have them, 3 are up, 3 are down from the factory. Using the bass knob you have, many have switched all 6 up.

I hope you have it because it makes a huge difference. It’s kinda hard to find and get to, damn near right above the carpet. I will pull it off tonight and check for the dip switches although I’m not sure I need any more. This little thing is pretty loud as it is.

I definitely got the newer version, a single sealed rubber connector to the amp. Only way to adjust is the bass equalizer on the head unit.

Ah man that sucks. Before I found the jack I stopped in to the local car audio shop and they said they could balance it all out for $2400. That was more than I wanted to spend.
