Heavy Duty All Terrain Tires

I have been running Ridge Grapplers for a lot of years now on my trucks. They don't wear long, but I never have had an AT tire that got good wear miles. 25 to 30 K is about what I get out of a set given my usage as a contractor and actually living in the mountains in Montana (pretty rough road to my house, plus all over MT really). But I still think they look the best, and I have not noticed them being loud, or other issues TBH. There are probably better overall AT tires with a similar look, I just always go back to the Ridge Grapplers after looking at the other options. Most other options I look at seem to be a bit more expensive also.

The Terra Grappler is a little less aggressive than the Ridge Grappler to my memory. Correct? Someone let me know if that is right or not. I need new tires here soon, winter is basically getting into real swing where I live 6100 ft on a literal mountainside), so new tires are about to be ordered. Very interested in the Terra G3 that was in that above video. 295/60 R20 will be what I go with, regardless of what tire/brand I get. I like that the Terra G3 may be a bit lighter than the Ridge Grappler, and that it may also have better snow/winter traction. Not sure if they will look quite as nice though...
Just put on Nitto RG in 295/65/20. Haven't had them long enough to give a review but am impressed so far. This is after having the Terra Grapplers on a previous truck and yes the Terra's have a little less aggressive tread design.

Both load range E. Traditionally that was a 10 ply but 10 ply is really just a rating now.
OK I'm fighting kidney stones over here so maybe my mind is mixed up but ten ply load range E applies to the tread not the sidewall. I was asking about the number of plies and the thickness of the sidewall usually around three sometimes four hopefully not just two.

Well you made me look and I found this:

Thanks for the info!

After my post earlier in this thread, I started googling the differences between the Terra and Ridge Grapplers. I like the look of the Ridge Grapplers a lot more, and from your info can see that my eyes aren't lying - the Ridge is more aggressive looking and nicer looking.

While doing my research, I clicked on a Custom Offsets link that had all of their available AT tires in size 295/60 R20. After looking at them all (I think there were 15 or 20 different brands), I still like the Ridge Grappler better for looks than any other option.

There are probably some of those other brands that may ride better, have better road characteristics, have better snow/ice/mud traction, and also may wear/last longer. But for looks the Ridge Grappler still are top dog in my view. And I have had them on several trucks for a good number of years now, and don't really have any complaints. But then again, I haven't tried other similar tires to really know the difference.

Well, I picked up the BFgoodrich HD Terrain T/A KT in stock size. 275/65 R 20.
Only have a couple hundred miles on them. Highway and pasture, a bit more noise on the highway and no spinning in the pasture. I’ll be getting some time on gravel roads when I head home to Louisiana to visit Family. Good possibility of red clay on that trip.

I have these too in a 295/65r20. So far so good. More noisy than the ATs, but not as much as the MT. Traction is great. I have not driven in the rain yet. They do get alot of attention from others. People always ask about them at the gasd station, etc.

I went through something similar with my truck and found that going for a local option made a big difference. For those around Quebec, I’d suggest checking out changement de pneu camion lourd Montreal if you want solid service without the runaround. They handled my install pretty quick, and I didn’t get upsold on stuff I didn’t need.

I just ordered new Ridge Grapplers for my 3500, but after this thread remembered the HD BFGs! I have the RGs on my 1500 and they have been amazing, so just figured why not for the HD. Both load range f, both 12 ply. I guess we will see! The k03s have been great and still have more to go at 40k hard miles, but I'll report back soon!
