Grille trim question.

Just heard back from my dealer, they want $1,746 to replace the whole grill assembly. Get real!!

It almost looks like it broke off? I am considering taking mine off to paint it the same color of the truck. Anyone know how to get it off without breaking it?
I was thinking the same thing just worried the color won't be an exact match

I purchased a black upper hood trim on eBay (from maxfitparts) and installed it over the weekend. It took about 15 minutes. It isn't super secure, really relying on the two screws on the ends. But for $185 to my door, it's certainly worth a try. I actually like the gloss black over the previous bronzed color or whatever it was. We will see how long it lasts, it seems like it would scratch easily.

Just happened on my 2022. No modifications. Snapped on top left hand side. Had to pull over and remove the rest of it to avoid additional damage. Expensive vehicle to have parts fall off while driving. No more GMC's for me. Too many engineering mishaps. Done!

Welcome.

I hope the painted trim pieces are more durable than the vader chrome. My 25's trim piece is painted gloss black and only has 150 miles on it so far; hoping I don't run into this issue. My dad's 2022 AT4X had the same issue; top piece flew right off and scratched his hood. Just under 30k miles.

I just found this thread. This happend to me yesterday. I assumed a rock or something hit it and it broke of as I was on the freeway doing 70. Didn't know I wasn't the only one. Now have to look for a fix.

Just happened to me last week as well going about 70 mph down the interstate. 2022 AT4X with 45k miles on it. Guess there is a common theme here.

Sorry to read.

gm needs to get this under control and also issue a recall.

I'm a retired biker and would be upset if this kinda stuff blew off in front of me. It's bad enough on a bike, without body panels flying off.

Although good so far during a year of driving, even in rough trails, but should I try and screw it down or something, I need to take a look unless others have already addressed this issue.

Nah, this is a refreshed LD issue. Yours has lots of bolts and not clips! 👌
