GMC Dashcam Advise

I wonder the same thing. Why not having a OEM dashcam system with feeds from all the cameras already on the truck, including the rearview mirror and tailgate cameras!
Based on the press release for the mid-cycle refreshed '25 Tahoe, there will be a feature like this available as an option on the GM full-size SUVs.

Connected Cameras, a newly available feature, comprises a fully integrated network of cameras that allow customers to remotely view the interior and exterior of their vehicle, including 360 degree views of the exterior. Key benefits include automatic Crash Recording; Security Recording; Live View; My Recordings (dash cam functionality); industry-first cloud storage and more. Camera views and recordings are accessible via the myChevrolet mobile app. Some features require an appropriate OnStar plan.

We need this on our trucks too :(

Ouch... I don't have OnStar coverage here... bummer!

I have Onstar Coverage for remote start, status etc. (until 2032) but did not continue with their data plan once it ran out of the preview period. I use my iPhone as a hot spot. Having said that, BlackVue DR970X-2CH LTE Plus 4K UHD Cloud Dash (I'll use T-Mobile sim card for the built in LTE), also acts as a Hotspot and can be used for other devices in/near the vehicle, if need be, Options are to use a T-Mobile pre-paid sim card or add data only line for like $10/month for 2GB; apparently it makes sense to use a prepaid sim card. The expense does not stop there; Blackvue offer a free cloud service (not including LTE sim card usage) for limited live download or streaming use or pay a monthly fee per camera for additional time/use per month. I'll try the free cloud service since it may be adequate for my limited driving.

GM needs to get on board with the recording of the cameras. My wife's BMW records from the OEM cameras and can be obtained after an accident.

For that OEM price, I'd skip it and get a BlackVue or Mercylion OEM-Looking Dashcam. Top image quality, better features. Any good car audio shop can do a pro install and hide the wires.

BlackVue 970X-2CH LTE Plus is the best, just had mine installed by BlackboxMyCar earlier this week and loving it. Also had a PowerCell 7500mAh LiFePO4 backup battery pack installed which powers the camera when the vehicle is off hence no drain on truck battery which I believe has two batteries anyway. The backup battery has provisions to add additional external battery packs in case the vehicle is left in parked state for more than a day.

Added a 6800mAh Cellink Neo battery pack increasing backup capacity to 14,300mAh; I will have to monitor how long it provides a backup, I have a feeling it may barely be enough for 24hrs since the built-in LTE module is always on, I will keep an eye on it. I need to put an inline switch to the battery output line, don't think I need camera whilst its parked inside.

Latest update: My BlackVue 970X-2CH LTE Plus and a new/changed mobile device data only plan from T-Mobile has now helped a lot; unlimited data, permits connecting upto five devices to hotspot with 10GB of HS data every month, also works seamlessly in Canada (I frequently travel across the border and need it for Dashcam Cloud). The best part is my truck automatically connects to and uses my camera's LTE hotspot for data, maps, navigation, google etc. etc. everything the infotainment system runs off the internet. I do not pay for Onstar, I never extended Onstar data plan following one month of free data although have GMC/Onstar Free Remote Access through 10/2026 and Connected Access through 10/2031. I'm a happy camper now.
