Well, duh! They can't charge you if you use Android Auto or Car Play. This "better" system will keep you safer, for a fee, of course.

General Motors made a covert move to disappoint loyal fans — TheStreet
The automaker is insistent on sticking with a decision it made in 2023.stocks.apple.com
I don’t know about yall but I disagree with the decision to remove Apple and android connectivity. I think people are going to use/stare at their phones even more.
Having it integrated on the screen I can just look at the maps, music or just listen to a text and reply with voice to text so I hardly ever pick up my phone.
That was their plan long when they first started integrating the infotainment center. before they announced it as well as making the buyer subscribe to the app to use the truck features. They tried doing this not long ago but it got delayed for one reason or another. Pay too much for vehicles and then have to pay for a subscription just to use their apps. Hopefully they won't go through with it but im sure they will.Well, duh! They can't charge you if you use Android Auto or Car Play. This "better" system will keep you safer, for a fee, of course.
???? How you figure that?Don’t worry google has taken hold and will fix everything
I know it was sarcasm just wanted to hear your take on it.All new GM vehicles come with google imbedded and alexia. And with the new OnStar restructuring the old remote commands access has been renamed OnStar connect which includes google assistant and streaming services without a data plan. OnStar connect plus includes the hot spot data plan
And the comment was meant sarcasticly
And make a buck while doing it requiring OnStar for the Maps, google and streaming services. My guess is most people just throw OnStar aside once they have to pay for it but now with basic Connect remote plan there are other "useful" things you get making it more attractive and there wasn't a price hike.I know it was sarcasm just wanted to hear your take on it.
You’re right about all that stuff but that has nothing to do with android auto or Apple CarPlay. Not sure if you read the article or not but what they are trying to do is limit people’s phone use by restricting connectivity to those apps and making you use their in-house app.
If they stick with google maps you can download and save the maps locally so you wouldn’t need onstar subscription. I never cared for onstar or its features since I never even used them even when I got the complimentary 3 months subscription. As long as I can use the maps and answer calls hands free I’m cool with that. And make a buck while doing it requiring OnStar for the Maps, google and streaming services. The whole Onstar restructure came just in time for me. I'm hoping the XM360 works with the Onstar Connect plan.
It could be more profitable or same old story..... Time will tell.
As a fellow JGG, I remember the "sports" car I wanted while growing up was a Pontiac Fiero, but then I reached 8th grade and was too big for one and I hadn't even started driving yet.Yup just a different shell. If I ever get another sports car it won’t be that. I’m waiting to see if Honda ever brings back the s2000. That would be my toy car depending if I can fit in itbeing a jolly green giant
