Factory undercarriage coating

Mine had a wax coating on it. Also annoying but I suppose stays on better than grease. I went to Line-X and had my frame etc done and it has a lifetime warranty. My AT4 is a diesel so I may keep it awhile since it can handle the miles(allegedly....)

Did they strip away your wax to apply linex? Can we get some pictures? How much did it run?
They did not strip away the wax. That would be immensely time consuming. They tell you to come back annually to have it touched up at no charge. I also had the insides of my doors, bumpers fogged so there is no rust formation. That being said, when I went in for my touch up, I went in the back and looked at it on a lift with the guy and was told they are moving to a new product called V3 that they can apply right over the wax and any rust. It will encapsulate it and keep it from spreading(when I looked at it, I really only saw rust on the contact points underneath where it would come in contact with a lift). They had been looking for a product specifically for GM that solves the wax issue. This is a combination of mineral oil, wax and lanolin. Apparently, it stays kind of wet and will need to be redone for the first two years and then maybe every other year. She told me it was $199 for the touch ups. Since I paid about $1300 for the Rust Defender product originally, they are not charging me for the switch over and the second year. I would just start to pay for the product after year 3. My truck is a '21. I don't have any photos of when I was looking under it but I could always take a few of the frame before and after through the rear wheel well so you can see what they both look like. These are franchises so they do not all have the exact same products. I hope that is helpful. If not let me know I can maybe fill in some gaps.
