I had mine replaced too. I did an early oil change at 500 miles and added a magnetic drain plug, just for peace of mind. No break-in needed per the dealer, and I've had no issues since.

I did the same. I don't think it'll save anything, but it could provide a bit of a heads up if something is going to go south. I also have sent my oil off to get analyzed after each oil change, and the last time I cut open my oil filter.

This all could be over the top, but I'd argue having my engine seize on me in -5F middle of nowhere is over the top. So at least this level of over the top helps position me to succeed.
