Crank NO Start Issue ??

Rick, I have tried every combination I can think of to try to determine if it something I am doing incorrectly, i.e. some magic sequence that causes it.
It has been over a month now without an incident using the same approach that Carman mentioned. It has never happened to me using the FOB. Still at 8x and waiting for the next occurence.
Mine has done it several times, even when using the FOB. However, I’ve noticed that I can stop the cranking with the FOB, by holding back down on the crank button. Now I only use the FOB to start my truck. I know this isn’t a solution to the no start, but at least it saves the starter……. A little bit.

Never had an issue with remote starting. Mine always occurred when using the push to start inside the cab. 20% remote start and 80% start from inside the cab.
Going on a month now since the dealer "flashed" the ECM without an issue.

I had this issue happen this week, took it in to the dealer they said that the starter module needed to be updated (reprogrammed). All good

I had EXACTLY the same issue on my 2021 6.2 gas. Just cranked and cranked. Left it for an hour and then it started right up. 2,500 miles on mine. Called dealership service department and they acted like I was nuts. Hasn’t happened again= yet! I will see if it happens again- then I will be smart enough to video and take to dealership . I did find this on another forum:View attachment 365View attachment 366
My 2021 did the same thing this week, i took it to the dealership and they told me that the starter needed to be reprogrammed problem fixed

Good Morning ,...

Our 2021 GMC Sierra AT4 would not start 2 days ago on it's first attempt ?? I waited a few minutes and tried to re-start the truck and it turned over with no problems on the 2nd attempt. The truck only has 385 km currently. There is extensive bulletins and notifications regarding an item described as a "Bent Trigger Wheel" on the 3.0 Diesel engine. Has anyone else had a similar NO start experience?? I did have the truck at the dealership yesterday for a recall for a software upgrade regarding the radio and at that time had them investigate this occurrence. The NO start issue does not throw a code so they could not provide an explanation for this issue at this time?? It is an un-nerving feeling to listen to the truck turn over for 10 to 15 seconds without starting before the start up sequence times out??

Regards … Rick C.
I am on my 3 rd 1500 w diesel , first two did the crank no start this one hasn’t done it yet. Starting sequence is a bit different as well

I just hit 15k with mine. Bought it in Nov and have only had 3 times where it did it. Never with a remote start. Always push button.
I may get the update one day, but I just don't want to waste a few hours at a dealer. Do my own oil changes etc.

2021 3.0 Diesel had the starting issue for a year and a half. Does it every 2 months or so but after letting it sit 30 minutes to an hour it finally fires up. Dealership replaced relay switch since I took them a video of what it’s doing but that didn’t help. After fighting with GM for over a year I’m worn out from this truck and actually about to trade it in.

Happened yesterday for me.
Called the local GM dealer and he made me feel like I was a complete idiot. It is very un-nerving like you say. It did start immediately after I worked up enough courage to try again.
