Carbyte DFM Disabler 2025 Vehicle Beta Testing

So was just driving with Key #2 (if that matters)

And the engine shut off a couple times.
I opened the app and enabled and disabled auto start/stop ( the icon turned grey, then I waited a few seconds then clicked again to make the icon yellow)

But at same time, I manually hit the button on the dash to disable auto stop.

I’ll report back on the next drive. I won’t manually hit the disable button on the dash

Drove again, but this time with the key for driver #1
Engine still stopped.
With the App, I did a factory reset for the Carbyte and unplugged and plugged it back in again.
Also did a firmware update check, which looks like it is already using the latest.

The engine still stopped and I ended up just manually pushing the OEM button on the dash to disable start/stop

Are you saying driving with key fob #1, the Carbyte works at disabling start/stop, but driving with key fob #2, it runs/stops like oem?

Opps, ill edit my 2nd post above, had a long day.

I drove again, but this time with Key Fob #1 (I had both keys with me, and had the other key in a RFID blocking case), and the engine still stopped.
So that's when I used the app to try to reset the module, but the engine still shutoff at the next stop.

I ended up pushing the OEM button on the dash to disable the start/stop, for the rest of the drive.

I Received the testing Carbyte AFM/DFM disabler several weeks ago. Thanks for allowing me to test it with my 2025 AT4X, 6.2.

First impression: The packaging is very professional and top quality. The disabler, smaller than anticipated, has a quality look and feel.

Carbyte Installation: It was very easy, just plug and play. It has a low profile that once installed, you forget it's there. The lights on the devise are not an issue with the flashing. The only time I can see it is when I look down on the floorboard.

The app: Was very easy to use and does not require a password, thank goodness! It’s a clean and easy app to navigate, no convoluted display, just the essentials, Connect, Cyl Mgt, Auto S/S and DTC. The DTC is a bonus!

2+ weeks in use:

The AFM OEM light is always on, cannot turn off the light when pressing the button. I was not sure it was working until the first stop sign. It was just confusing for a minute until I knew it was working. After that, I forgot the button was there. I had one time that the AFM did not work at a stop. I am not sure what caused it, but I connected my app to the Carbyte, and everything was working again. I’m not sure if it’s one off. From what I understand, you don’t have to connect to it every time you start the car.

The DFM: I am unfamiliar with the 6.2 and GMC, went from a Toyota Tundra to a 2024 Corvette 6.2L, and 2025 AT4X 6.2L, so, still learning the feel of the engine in both vehicles. The DFM on the corvette was seamless at times, however, I am noticing it more and more with more miles on the car, over 12k miles at this time. The AT4X only has just at 3k currently, and it’s hard to compare when you have a Corvette, because everything seems slow when jumping into the truck after driving the vette. But I did start to notice a slight difference with pedal response. The slight delay seems gone. Now I need one for my vette

Milage: I see a slight difference, however I don’t have a lot of miles on my truck, so cannot see a lot of difference. However, most people that want to buy a heavy truck, with a gas guzzling V8 engine, do not care about gas milage.

Pros: It does work, and it works well. Easy install and easy to use app. When service is needed at the dealer, it’s very easy to remove and reinstall after.

Cons: The occasional, AFM stops working, not sure if this is a one off, but will keep an eye out. Lower gas milage, but as it stands, I’m not sure how much I lost mpg, however, it’s small.

I'm happy with the product and look forward to an followup in a couple of months.

Do you have to connect to the app every time you drive? I installed mine yesterday and connected it no problem. However, when I drove to work this morning, the app said it wasn't connected and the AFM was working as normal.

No. App doesn't need connected.

Asking a couple of dumb questions. My dad loves his new suv, but is hoping to get something so he doesn't have to use the L9 mode forever.

1) The currently selling carbyte will function on some level (I understand it's beta) with a 2025 yukon denali?

2) When the beta testing is completed, it will "fully work" with a firmware update (won't have to buy new hardware)?

I know it's not an AT4, but we have learned a lot about my dad's truck from reading the different discussions!

Thanks!

With firmware updates, I would not expect to be needing hardware updates, until the whole automotive industry changes the OBD2 protocol.

@gemarsh is correct - you won't need new hardware. The new vehicle compatibility will be added via firmware updates.

Unfortunately the current disabler firmware will not function on a 2025 Yukon Denali, even partially. However, you can still use Carbyte as a scan tool using the OBDLink app (iOS/android).

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

If you’re experiencing Carbyte not properly disabling the start/stop function or AFM/DFM at random, please reach out to our support team.

We have seen an uptick in tracker devices installed in vehicles without the owner’s knowledge. Those devices interfere with Carbyte, preventing it from functioning properly. This occurs seemingly at random, when the tracker is using the OBD port to transfer data.

Our support team can help you identify such devices.

Hello, I have a 2025 Silverado 1500 WT with 5.3L. Is the carbyte disabler compatible with it ?

Yes, Carbyte is compatible with the 2025 Silverado 1500 WT 5.3L.

Based on our tests, Carbyte should be compatible with all 2025 GM petrol trucks released so far. We will update the official compatibility list once we are able to test it on all new models. Until then our support team can confirm the 2025 compatibility of your vehicle.
