Cab Running Lights

Installation of the overhead cab lights is happening today! Just received my Greenlee #731 3/4” square knockout punch in the mail late yesterday. Purchased it used on eBay. Doing the work myself. I will post photos once completed. Wish me luck!!!
Let us know if'n the '24's are pre-wired, once you get in there!

Yes they are! It’s the top vacant two prong in the A-pillar on the driver’s side.

I should add that the connection point is there. The light kit I purchased came with the lights and wiring harness (and that was it. No instructions and no measurements).

Well it was a very long, tedious, stressful, and exhausting day installing the cab lights that’s for sure! Here’s the final outcome. What y’all think? If anyone is interested in buying the 3/4 knockout punch I've got one! $100.00. It’s a must if you’re going to do the installation yourself. ✌🏻

But it was worth it, looking at your picture!

Was it easy to remove the headliner?
Think this might be my next project.

Which cab lights did you buy? the Recon kit?

Removing the headliner was actually pretty simple as long as you start by opening the sun roof (if applicable), removing the A pillar’s, sun visor’s, F console (overhead controls by rear view mirror), the B pillar’s, in that order. I learned by doing the job myself that before you drill ANY holes in your roof check and double check that NO MATTER your measurements your back far enough away from the windshield that your square holes are NOT going to have to go through the crossbeam support that runs from side to side. I measured more times than I could count (From the exterior) and never thought to check what metal I’d be cutting through or close to on the interior. I of course checked for wires and stuff but never thought the metal cross support. I got lucky because I noticed how close I was after drilling and cutting the outboard lights so when I did the center I just added about 1/4” (Further away) from the windshield to avoid the cross support. Also I wish I had removed the entire headliner as it was a b!t<h getting my hands and forearms in the tight space from just letting the headliner hang. The final thing I learned and it’s proving to be a $200 mistake (Hopefully not more) is that after the installation is complete and I had put everything back together I THEN decided to check for leaks. I SHOULD HAVE DONE THIS PRIOR!!!! It leaked of course and because I had it ALL put back together I only noticed the leak about 2 minutes after applying high pressure water from the hose when I sat back in the truck and noticed water dripping out of the F console (the overhead console) that controls the sunroof, cab lights, and let’s you know if there is someone in the passenger seat. Now I have a “Service Safety System” on my instrument cluster, the airbag warning light will not go away, I have no cab lights, and can not operate my sunroof at all. Interesting that my Onstar, SOS, and rear sliding window still works. Today I did notice that my vanity mirror lights are also NOT working. So there’s that! But I have some bada$$ looking cab lights! 😂 Getting ready to go run a scan as I’ve already checked ALL the fuses and probably just going to order a new F console. Figure with all the money I saved doing it myself a $200 part ain’t that bad! Good luck and if you have any questions feel free to reach out, if I can help make the install easier for someone else that’s awesome!
