I don’t know about you guys but I like having a nice clean truck most of the time, and hated how after a fresh wash I would hit the windshield spray to knock off the dew (or dust here in TX right now) only to have it run the front camera squirter and ruin the grille with drips and spots.

This should be a factory install in my opinion but here’s what I did to fix it:

First, valve is from Amazon and is intended for drip irrigation but works perfectly in this application (2 pack was about $2.50 when I got them):

Only tools needed are a small flat blade screw driver for the two part plastic clips, a T15 screw driver for the hood latch, and something to cut the tubing with (I just used my pocket knife).

You need to remove the front air intake cover (piece between the radiator core and front grille) to access the back of the grille where the tubing is run to the front squirter. Once that is off you need to remove at least one of the movable louvers and reach in behind the grille to unclip the tubing.

Once you have access it is as easy as cutting the tubing in a convenient spot (I chose just upstream from the check valve), installing the shutoff and zip tying the tubing for a little extra leak protection.

Everything then goes back behind the grille in the same clips and you would never know it is there. Total install time for me was about 45 minutes. Not bad for a couple bucks.

Is there a way to imbed amazon items into the posts on this forum? I tried to find where you can use the ASIN like on other forums but couldn’t find it so just posted the share link from the Amazon page instead.

The bugs were so bad last week on the highway I ran out of washer fluid and my front end collision and driver assist shut itself off. The dash kept saying clean your front camera. I had no idea that there was a sprayer on the front camera!

I like this idea a lot. I don’t have my truck yet but I can imagine that it would make it difficult to keep it clean. I will put this on my things to do
