Build Journal for my 2023 1500 AT4

Still to come, prioritized:
1. Bed rack - looking at low-profile solutions that work with my t-slot rails and will keep my 11" tall tent below the height of the cab. I'd also like to mount my hilift jack, shovel, and axe to the sides, so I'm leaning toward something like the Billiebars racks instead of the standard Yakima or Rhino crossbars. Maybe. Not sure yet.
2. Bed mat - if my camping gear storage slides around too much in the carbon bed.
3. Leveling kit - likely going with the Readylift 2" SST kit with UCAs.
4. larger tires - probably 33.5" to 34" range. Staying practical to maintain as much fuel efficiency and articulation as possible.
5. Revise my camping storage and gear solutions. Looking to improve on the large tupperware solutions I used in my last truck. Maybe.
6. Considering a larger fuel tank.
7. Would love to trade out my factory "offroad" steps for actual frame-mounted sliders, but they're definitely at the bottom of my list.

Ok how do I do this. I love it
He's using an Ottocast or Carlinkit box (or similar) that runs Android OS and plugs into the truck's USB port. He then uses a bluetooth OBD scanner device to send info to an app running on that box (either Torque or OBD Fusion). The boxes essentially just trick the truck's Carplay system into running regular Android apps from the Google app store on the main infotainment screen. Pretty clever hack, actually.

Edit: Video that discusses some of the current boxes. Note, there seem to be new ones coming out every other week, so good luck choosing one! lol

I got the newest Carlink carplay box off of Amazon. It arrived late yesterday, I made a 1000 mile trip today from MT to NE. The Carlink carplay box came in handy for my trip. Took me a bit to figure out I had to allow the truck to use it as an Apple carplay device, then let my phone (Android Galaxy S22 U) hook into the Carlink box via Android Auto. The Carplay box does not need a phone to work, it can work on it's own, especially with my truck (2023 AT4X) which has it's own 4G WIFI connection. This Carlink brand carplay device is a very nice piece of kit, cost me $200. I figured if I didn't like it I would just return it to Amazon for a refund, but it worked great and IMO already paid for itself during this 1000 mile road trip I took today (was just myself and the 4 yr old - so you can see how it came in handy).

The real nice thing is, like you mentioned, you can download and install any Android app to the Carlink/carplay box. Even stuff that isn't on the google play store, you can download any Android APK file you can find online and sideload install it, then run it. Just makes our trucks with these nice factory displays SO much better and more useful. Basically allows you to customize it to however you want it, running pretty much whatever Android app you want.

Oh I see now. Yes I agree. and would also like to remove that chrome strip around the GMC. Then again for me I don't notice it too much to bother me too much, but if there was an easy way to delete the chrome I would
It’s pretty easy to remove the chrome strip around the GMC logo. Use HyperDip in whatever colour you want. Easy to do, you spray the whole emblem and then the centre part just pulls off and leaves the edge.

That looks like an interesting app that would display on the now useless infotainment center in my 22 Refreshed At4 LM2. Please share where one can find it and how difficult is it to install?
I did buy the I Dash and am waiting on the Derringer release.(y)
Any insight on when the derringer is to be released?

Reviving an old thread. How are you liking the A-Tach phone mount? I’m considering it and wonder if it’s held up well over the last 8 months? I just purchased a new ‘24 AT4 Carbonpro diesel, we we are cousins.
