Borla Atak Muffler

I had the S Type cat back and actually swapped out the S Type muffler for the Atak harmonizer thing and absolutely love it.

Would he happy to sell you my S Type muffler for a good price if you're interested.

I may be interested. I’m having a resonator added this coming Friday. If that does not give me what I want I’ll let you know, S-Type will be plan B for sure. I’m hopeful that this resonator will tone it down just enough. Not looking for much.

Just make sure you drive it at highway speeds to ensure there's no drone.

You could try the touring muffler. It’s pretty toned down. IMO the drone is the one thing you need to get control of. It can give you a headache on long trips and Borla is the only GM approved muffler. Mine is loud at start up but it tones down in about a minute or less.

I have the stock active exhaust, even in Normal mode the exhaust sounds like it starts in Sport mode, and then switches after a min or two when the truck warms up. The exhaust has quite a snap a cold start, maybe equal to my '15 Z/28 (7 liter) on cold start just with out the heavy cam lobe.

I think Ik what you mean. I will time it next time I start it up. Just a thought maybe it’s the built in flapper GM puts into the exhaust pipe that makes it loud for a short period of time? I have mine tuned by HP tuners so DFM/AFM is turned off but I still have a short start up of it being louder than after it warms a bit.

The engine idles at a higher rpm when cold, that’s why it’s louder. Edit - not outdoor temperature, when the motor hasn’t warmed up yet following a cold start. As it warms up the idle lessens.

Yes and no. I just timed it. It’s approximately 30sec and then it idles down on cold start up.
