Baja Designs lights in rear AEV bumper (1500)

Do you have the OEM foglights or the Diode Dynamics foglights?
John: I have OEM fog lights. I am going to add a light bar on the front, and I added the Baka Designs S2s already, so I’m not sure yeet my final plan for fog light type lighting. Stay tuned.

Thanks for you time posting. The reverse lights (lack of) is the only thing that bothers me about my truck.

Is this the harness you used for the BD cubes?
No, this is not what I have. Mine are not “relay style”, and at times the load on the reverse circuit does cause the lights to flash. It’s must be the Gen5DIY version 1.0, ha. I will eventually use the tap for my SwitchPros system, so the load won’t matter. I do have an extra set I’ll send you for free if you’re interested (you pay shipping - I have two, one for each side). These allow you to not have to cut a single OEM wire. They are completely plug and play on the OEM side; you still have to crimp wires to the Baja cubes (or at a Deutsch connector like I did).

Ok thanks for the info bud. Yeah those of us with the Diode Dynamics fog lights were having issues with mods to keep the fog lights on, and etc from boost auto. So was trying to see if this mod worked or not. I guess with the added draw of the Diode Dynamics fog lights, the boost auto mod would not work.

I don't know what Boost Auto mod you're talking about. Can you please clarify?

1. Are the Diode Dynamics fog lights too much draw for the OEM circuitry?
2. Did Boost Auto sell a mod that tried to rectify this?
3. What else do we all need to know?

Thanks John.

Yes the draw for the Diode Dynamics fog lights are more then the OEM fogs. So was wondering if you did your mod with the Diode Dynamics fogs or not. As the boost auto mods won't work with the Diode Dynamics fog lights. Well you would need to install additional electrical items to make this work, and I'm not willing to do all that nonsense lol.

Did you reach out to Gen5DIY to see if his harness would work with the diodes? We love that we don’t ever have to touch the fog light button anymore on the 1500.

I have not. That's a project for another time lol. Have about 3 or 4 projects already on the self waiting to be installed already so maybe I'll dig into that later. Thanks tho bud.

I installed the recommended (by AEV) lights in the rear bumper yesterday. It’s pretty easy, although when I pulled the insert off the drivers side, the plastic that holds the clips to the insert separated. They used a hokey “melt the plastic” method to join the two pieces, and I had to superglue it back together. This is on an AEV bumper on a $90,000 truck. I just shook my head. But it worked. Btw, gen5diy (google it) makes a plug and play taillight kit for the reverse lights, so you don’t have to splice into the OEM wiring. Email the owner exactly what you want at [email protected]; quality stuff, but not cheap.
What wire did you tap into?

I’m sorry, I should have made those two separate topics.

There is a plug and play harness for the rear Baja designs lights that I added to the AEV bumper using the AEV mounting brackets. Those lights go on and off with the reverse lights; I have not wired a separate switch. The gen5diy harness just has them mimicking the reverse lights (which is nice, for instance when you unlock the truck with the fob, those lights go on). You do have to put the ends on the pigtail to power your rear Bajas, but that kit came with the plugs to do that.

The other harness is for the front OEM fog lights. That harness is also plug and play and allows for the following (and there are options, this is just what I chose in the harness I bought;

1. OEM fog lights come on every time I turn the headlights on (even on Auto mode) - so I never have to turn them on manually again
2. They stay on when the high beams are turned on (this required a wire to be connected to the + terminal on the battery)
3. I opted for an additional high beam tap wire out of the same harness, so when I eventually add a light bar or driving lights, I now have a dedicated tap that only goes on with the high beams, which is exactly what I want for those kind of lights.

Two totally separate harnesses, purchased separately from gen5DIY. OEM quality connectors, totally waterproof. They go inline between the factory wiring, so true plug and play.

Hopefully this clarifies some things.
When you use the GEN five plug-in what wire did you plug the yellow wire into?
