Anyone upgrade AT4 HD seats?

Your AT4x AEV seats are the exact same as my AT4X non AEV seats aside from the AEV embroidered front seat headrests.
I think the leather on all AT4X seats is generally thinner or perhaps its due to ventilated and massage seats, most people seem to like them. I hope these get softer over time else I need to look for seat covers which would be a shame.

Many decades ago, I had hand made lambskin/wool seat covers fabricated for a custom designed and hand built covered truck on an army Nissan Jonga Chassis which had a truck mercedes straight six diesel engine; those seat covers cost a small fortune back in the day but were pure luxury, cool in summer and warm in winter.

Trying to find an old photo of the seats but could only find one of the interior with all the ham radio equipment and the dash I hand built myself. Yeah, I was a lot better looking then :)

So for construction comparison my AT4 seats are pictured. So these have the same back and seat “profiles” while I understand the bolsters lumbers and bottoms have rollers or something similar for the massage seats. I have an Escalade with massage seats and I would love to have those seats in my AT4. They have way more cushioning than my new AT4. Both my AT4 and Escalade are heated/ventilated but AT4 basic electric seat adjustments. So if the AT4X and AEV are similar to the Escalade might be worth investigating for me.

The AT4X seats are the same as the Denali ultimate (both Yukon and sierra).

I prefer a more firm seat, maybe since the seats in my previous truck (06 2500 Silverado) are like an old lazyboy recliner, lol!

As a new 2024 GMC AT4 HD owner I was wondering if anyone has upgraded the front bucket seats? I think if you buy the AT4X or EV you get like the Denali seat leather? Is that the only difference is the actual leather covering? Is the cushioning the same between AT4 bucket seats on all 3 AT4 models (AT4, AT4X, AT4EV) or actual physical differences between AT4 model seat constructions?

Seating seems stiff on long drives in my new AT4 so seeing if it’s just me or does anyone feel the same and have you changed out seats at all?

Thanks in advance for your reply!
I have the same problem And hope someone answers regarding this problem. The seats are just a little too firm. Also, I talked to a car, upholstery person that restores old cars, and he suggested constructing a somewhat triangular shaped wedge to sit on, similar to a 2” thick flat pillow, but triangular that has the right amount of cushion in it that I can just throw on top of the bottom seat to bring the pan of the seat up level. I would have it constructed out of a smooth leather like material because I find the texture in the original bucket seat to be pretty rough and uncomfortable. I have problems with my back and I can’t sit back in an angle like that but it’s a little pricey. It might be cheaper just to change out the seats. I am a retired machinist, so I should be able to come up with something that will lift the rear part of the set up so that it becomes level. I could just swap out the seats and put one in that is level to start with if we can find a more comfortable seat.

I don't know if this will apply to the HD seats but on my 1500 22 refresh - the seats were so hard and uncomfortable at first I was shocked! Now, after just over a year they must have broken in a lot because they are completely fine and feel normal. Hopefully, you guys will find the same with the HD seats.
Thanks

So my understanding is that the leather quality is different between AT4 and AT4X/AEV seats only? Cushioning is still the same construction and material?

I would think they only look different. It's something I have focused on but honestly just ASSUMED they were the same underneath. I really dont like the looks of the AT4 seats and came very very close to dropping an extra 8K on the HD AT4X just to get seats that look better. I ended up settling on the HD AT4. I drove an AT4 and never even thought about seat comfort, I guess it was good.

I'd have loved the lazyboy recliner comfort.

So my wife made a flat cushion that she puts down for the long rides. I do like the “wedge” type cushion you are talking about. Unfortunately we would lose the cooling and heating effect but at this point comfort for me too with a bad back is what I would be trading for too. Sounds like it’s not just me thinking seats are a little tough but still live my new AT4 and want it to be perfect!
