Hey Guys, I just picked up a 2026 Sierra 1500 AT4X Duramax last month and before I even left the dealership I had them install 18x9 +0 Vossen HF6-4 wheels. For now Im running the stock tires. But as I have a tendency to do, I overthink and over analyze everything. My goal is not to stuff the biggest tire I can under the truck but to keep with the more aggressive nature of what the AT4X is...so heres where I need help. Ive narrowed down my next tire choice to the following and wondered what your alls opinion would be:
1. Falken Wildpeak at4w in 285/70/18. The specs on this are nearly perfect at 34x11.50 and C load range, good looking sidewall profile. My hangup is the 68lb tire weight. This leads for now because I live in western WA and want a good wet weather tire.
2. Toyo AT3 in the same 285/70/18. Specs are 33.7x11.5 but 57lbs. My hangup on these are they are e load range and maybe not quite aggressive enough sidewall.
3. Nitto Terra Grappler G3 in 285/70/18. Same 33.7x11.5 and 58lbs. Still e load range but seems to correct the non aggressive look of the at3 with a more aggressive sidewall. This one seems pretty good but from research maybe not the best winter tire even tho it does have the 3pMSF rating (which they all do).
4. 285/65/18 Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT. Specs are 33.2 x 10.9 (but have a 10" wide tread width), 62lbs. Again tho, e load range
I also looked at the falkens in the 35x11.50x18, good weight at 63lbs and c load range but might be more trimming that Id want to do and going from a 33 to 35 id want to correct for speedo/odo, and shift point accuracy and that means a hypertech inline calibrator and another $900.
So my question is, whats the best place to compromise, a little heavier weight or possibly stiffer ride with e load range. And before anyone says I should look at the BFGs, Ive run them on other trucks in the past and they are hot garbage in the rain. Thanks for indulging me.
