AEV releases a winch installation kit...

Uh, no, that is just the mount. Doesn't a person get to chose whatever winch they want? Or does it have a proprietary bolt pattern?
The “Comeup “ winch is the one the AEV bumper was designed to accept. It’s made in Taiwan, not China like most winches, and it gets good reviews. It’s $2300 and the GM installation kit is $350.

Many winches won’t fit in that space, but there’s an online video of a guy installing a Warn Zeon, and it came out great. (The Zeon series is not one of the Warns that’s just a Chinese model with Warn branding, so they are expensive too.)

I'm not sure if it ties to the frame but it comes with a bunch of installation hardware and not just nuts and bolts.
I will have a few pictures to share for sure, the winch and new spring pack pictures. All fun and games :)

The Comeup Winch purchase is one part and the AEV winch installation kit is another part to be separately purchased, each with its own dealer install charges.

The Chevrolet and GMC Sierra HD AT4X AEV Edition winch kit for sale includes a 2mm-thick zinc e-coated winch solenoid mounting bracket, license plate mounting bracket, AEV winch hook isolator, and all the hardware required for a complete installation.

The license plate bracket overhangs on the top side of the fairlead. I don't believe its a visible dangly hook as you imagine; we are obliged to display a front licence plate here in WA and it will cover the winch hook :D

Its a fairly complicated install hence I preferred the dealer to install.
Mine is being installed on the 22nd.

Here’s a video of a Warn Zeon installation on a light duty AEV.

Warn Zeon installation in AEV bumper

It came out good, but I’m not that ambitious anymore. I installed the winches on all of our jeeps and the last few trucks, but this one looks like a pain in the ass, so I’m happy to have the dealer do it. (The senior service writer initially declined saying, “We don’t install aftermarket parts”. I had to show him the GM parts invoice from the parts department just a few feet away…). Doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence, as they have obviously never seen one before.

I hope they don’t try to charge me more than the quoted rate because they don’t know what they are doing.

Plus $700 for dealer installation totalling $3350.

Forget the Winch, We can use tow straps with a little foot (muddy or snow boots never hurt anyone) and hand work, of course unless you are a serious off roader making the winch a standard add on. I contacted AEV 1 1/2 year ago for my 2023, to come up with a grill guard for the GMC and Chevys, A simple hook under their lower bumper then bolt on the existing holes, those holes extended on the front of the grill guard, thus protecting the expensive head lights ($1,800.00 a side) let alone the grill. Here in the Midwest dodging deer, pheasants, eagle, hawks, crows, turkeys, and cattle, let alone crazy drivers, this made more sense than a winch. Since 1978 I've been driving 4X4's, stuck a lot and never had a winch but worn out many a tow strap. Also had numerous grill guards that saved my grill many times from all the above. Come on AEV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I spoke to AEV and they have several products in development, including some kind of a bull-bar like attachment for the front bumper. I doubt they will build any type of a full cage-type system for the front bumper though.

On the winch front, I like having them, and I doubt it will significantly increase the length of the truck. I have a winch on my jeep, and I’ve had them on jeeps and trucks for over 40 years. They are a handy tool for is rural folks. I’ve used them to pull people out of snowbanks and other stuck spots when a gentle pull is better than a yank, I’ve used them to tension fence and, last winter, I used the winch to gently right an old apple tree that was toppled by an ice storm.

I think our AEV is long enough without a bull-bar like attachment. We will see what AEV come up with over the years.
Also compared to the Warn Platinum 10S the Comeup Winch has a higher 12,500-lb. pulling rating.

If I made winches mine would be called the "AhShit 12,000".

It will be fun pulling our trucks out of a ditch or pulling others from ditches here in winter, we saw so many vehicles do that here and we are not even a very large town.

AhShit is when you get stuck and have to put it in 4x4.

Mine would be called Fukme 12000. Don't ask me what it is called when you run out of rope, cable, chains and still don't have anything close enough to hook to.

You need to get a new hobby, if'n you think winching is "fun" in winter. 🥶

That one's called the FukThisShit and comes in men's sizes 8-15, half sizes and width D-EE are available.

One of my goals in life is being useful to others; it would give me great pleasure to help dig someone or their vehicle out of trouble/snow/ditch etc. As risky as it may be, I'm the guy who'd stop and check or help fix a broken down vehicle/person in distress.
As far as hobbies are concerned, I have way too many to list here.

Yes. I have the 10S on my Jeep, because it only weighs about 5200 pounds. If I was going to mount the Warn on my 2500 I’d go with the Zeon 12S, but I haven’t seen an installation of one of those in the AEV bumper.

I think the AEV rep was talking about a bar that would be suitable for mounting fog/driving lights, but I’m not sure.

I suspect they are slow-rolling product development until they know the market is big enough to make it worth their while.

I do love the look of the Warn Sidewinder Hyperlink. As cheesy at it may sound, one needs special winch gloves (ha ha) to operate a winch although the comeup winch gloves are nowhere near as good looking as my Grease Monkey gloves, despite I ordered them plus a comeup winch recovery bag. I think I'll be able to store the AEV Full-Size 4in WInch Extension Strap in it. I know I'm nuts. :D
