Active Exhaust Dilemma

Good because it's not going to happen.
I was joking.................I guess I need to be more clear on the sarcasm. My point was, I don't "floor" the accelerator after a stop. Makes no sense to race from stop light to stop light...........californians seem to enjoy it though.................KNUCKLEHEADS!

I must be doing something wrong because in normal mode on a 300+ mile road trip doing 75-80 most of the way I only got around 17 before I got back here to DFW. I don't understand how you guys are getting such great mileage. I had similar results with my '21 AT4 that had a flowmaster Super 10 for sound. Not using L9 either.
Sounds about right to me. I get anywhere from 16-17 mpg in sport mode and L9, but I drive around in rural areas of Idaho, on country two lane roads...........no way do I drive over 65 mph (not a californian); too many tractors, combines and plows. ThunderGray said he "averaged 17-19" mpg. If you got 17 mpg driving 75-80 mph, sounds pretty much the same to me. Obviously going faster is going to hurt your mpg; I'm speaking out of ignorance at those speeds because I never drive that fast...........no need to. I drive in Sport mode because the exhaust sounds cool, and I drive around in L9 to eliminate the Dynamic Fuel Management (DFM).............that's all.

I kind of figured that. People race to be first to stop at a red light in Florida too. Never understood it.

looking at this active exhaust on my new 24 1500 it seems the electronic valve is behind the muffler. I am wanting to hear the full sound of the exhaust But keep it in normal mode ( not sport ) for better fuel economy when cruising around. i do like the option to be able to close them for the early AM neighborly peace lol. So in reality it seems its either Sport mode or not to hear the good sounding exhaust note...

does anyone know a way to bypass the exhaust flap and keep normal driving mode engaged ??
Hey just letting you know I did a muffler delete this morning and it sounds amazing. Doesn’t affect the active bypass valve at all. I’ll post the video so you can hear!!

Muffler delete video
Sounds great!

I had mine like that for a week then the wife had had enough of my 4am cold starts and said I was waking up the whole street. So I begrudgingly put a muffler back on.

Did you ever find a way? Looking to do this as well.

It may be because you are on the plains , with head , cross winds and heat all the time. Also the fuel could be different. I have been driving to Rapid city for 38 years. Fuel milage goes down when u hit Iowa. The fuel in SD and Iowa usually are lower octane.

i just drive in sport mode and its about the same mileage as normal.

I test drove a 1500 with active exhaust and really didnt notice a large difference in engine/trans in sport mode so I would do the same thing to keep the active exhaust on the open setting.

Agree. I am close to 5000 miles now and its been in sport mode 90% of the time
12,000 miles on my truck now and I haven't noticed much of a difference between "normal" mode and "sport" mode with regard to mpg..........so why not use SPORT, it sounds fantastic!

exactly.. my wife's Navigator is different however.. there is a huge difference in the way it drives and gas mileage in normal vs sport. when i first got this truck end of march i was thinking it would be the same thing but its really not..

i do notice Sport mode will keep it in higher gear when you punch the gas and seems to shift faster , but driving normally will not effect it. it seems to know when you make an aggressive pass or something . which i like !
