2024 AT4 1500 Black Chrome Peeling Upper Grill

I had to have mine replaced under warranty few months after buying it. It's like a dark tint spray over the chrome. It's peeling again.

I have a 21 AT4 and mine started to peel and took it to my dealership and they told me that everyone’s is doing it and GMC is well aware of it and as far as they know, nothing is going to be done about it. I guess they are going to let it get into the 700,000 and some thousands before they do a recall on it, like they did with the 6.2, which I just got mine back!!!

That's why I'm keeping the old grill. If they ever do a recall, I'll have the parts.

Just noticed this on my 23' with 14k miles. Just started to happen. No ding mark or scratch in the grill. Looks like the clear is flaking off the chrome. Unreal. Contacted my dealer. Waiting for a response. Just hoping they treat me right considering how much I spent on this thing and got the extended warranty...

Post your results with the dealer and I'll be sure to do the same. Curious as how they handle this.

Good luck... I have a 2024 Terrain AT4 that is peeling. Took it back to the dealership and they said "stone chips" caused it - no marks on the chrome and I actually saw it peel off while hand washing. To make a long story short, I opened a case with GMC. That was worthless. I was told that they cover paint for 12 months or 12,000 miles and since mine is 2024 it is out of warranty.

I have a 2024 AT4 that I got new. Now the paint is peeling off the front grill with 21,800 miles on the vehicle. Took it back to the dealer and was told it is due to stone chips but the offered to pay half of the replacement leaving me with a little over $600. Not acceptable to me. I opened a case with GMC and still waiting the outcome.

Well I got the outcome of my case... seems it is GMC Policy. Case denied. Told to take it up with the service manager at the dealership. Not exactly what I would call good customer service. The only thing I learned was that GMC warranty covers paint for 12 month or 12,000 miles. So I'm SOL.

I may be a masochist, given all the peeling in this thread, but I just blacked out my chrome with flashing tape. I had such a hard time getting the mastic off a window I installed for my daughter, I thought I’d try it out.

We’ll see how long it lasts?

Dealer reviewed photos I sent via text message and filed a claim. Ordered parts and will update when they are in to schedule install. No fight or pushback from my dealer with this issue. Makes me think they are aware of a defect and don't want to make a mountain out if a mole hill so to speak.

Now I wonder how I will keep the new one from doing the same thing! I'm thinking about sending it to a body shop and have them color match the chrome on the grill.

I will update when they replace the grill.

My dealer put it down as wear and tear due to driving everyday and didnt think gm would bother replacing it. Mine isn't as bad as some but you can see the chrome plastic beneath. It's currently sitting at the dealership getting the infotainment system and radio fixed. The last OTA update they did screwed it up bad. I have the 2024 gmc at4 6.2L model. Gm is not wanting to warranty the system because this is the second time I have had issues with the infotainment system.
