1500 XXL factory replacement fuel tank.

I ordered one over the weekend for my '23 AT4.

I am curious if the dealer would try to slip out of a warranty claim if there would be any issues with the sending unit or associated components down the road.
Id find another dealer if they started pulling that. It’s swapping the factory sending unit into the new tank , two bolts, unplug 5 connections, and plugging them back in.

On any GM you can’t adjust the DTE (fuel range).
I have seen several people mention, in other boards, that the DTE will "re-learn" the estimated mileage after several full to empty cycles of the oversized tank. There was also mention of a malfunction indication after you exceed the DTE, which either resets after several miles, or an ignition cycle.

Have you experienced any of those conditions?

There isn't a lot of discussion on whether that is actually the case or not.

Still curious if there is a bigger fuel tank available for the 23 AT4X. Online search has not found anything.

Your DTE on a GM will never recalibrate. I had 49k miles on my 2021 and 5200 miles now on my 2023 they’ve had the tank since 500miles.
Both of them with the first couple full tanks the fuel gauge would go have an error between 100-150 miles driven then it never happens again.

Got it. That was my understanding as well, until I stumbled across several of the auto-recalibrate threads... Thank you for the input

Bumping this thread to see if anyone has ever found a larger tank for a 2023 AT4X. 24 gallons is just way too small. Online searching again yields no hits.

That’s what this article is about.

Does this larger tank replace the stock tank? I'd be wary of installing a fuel tank outside of the frame . If someone hits you in the right spot there could be a hugh explosion and fire.

I clicked on the links in this thread, all the tanks were for the AT4 and 3.0 diesel. Unless I missed a post or link somehow. When I do a google search, the only larger tanks I can find are for the 3.0 diesel.

Now, I am assuming a larger after market tank will probably cost $1200+, plus installation. But I would seriously consider it if I could get say a 32 gallon or larger tank. It probably isn't worth it to do so I suppose, but such a small tank is a real limiting factor on a truck that struggles to get 15 MPG with the 6.2 engine.

Nobody makes gasoline tanks like this or ever will. The DOT rules make them next to impossible for gasoline.

Ford makes a 36 gallon gasoline tank for their F150s, as recently as 2022. So unless there’s some brand new DOT rules, the last statement is incorrect.

Thanks! Is that the stock fuel tank for the F150 or is it an option one can choose? Wonder if it has to be a factory option to be approved for gas engines/fuel? Just spitballing.

It came from the factory with it. Not sure if it was part of a package or not. I believe Ford has a 26 gallon tank in most. But they also offer the 36g.
