New 2023 AT4X let the mods begin!

I sold my diesel 2021 AT4 last week to good buddy of mine, and bought a new At4X.
I had to travel bit to get it. About 2.5 hours each way on Saturday to bring her home.
Dealer sent me these pics last Thursday right after it came off the transport. I had actually bought it the day before it arrived.

Later Saturday afternoon started on installing a few mods.
Wheels and tires, along with installing some black GMC badges on the grill and tailgate.
Wheels are Fuel Covert 18x9+20 with grey center and black ring. Tires are Nitto Recon LT305/60R18 32.5x12 load range C 6 ply.

So far only issue was the TPMS sensors that were working fine on my 2021 At4, do not seem to want to program to the 2023 At4x.
I can scan them with scan tool, but the relearn programing procedure is not relearning them to this 2023 truck. Spoke to the tire shop this morning, they said they showed the same TPMP sensors for 2019-2023 so they should have worked.

Prior to the TPMS issues I only needed to go to the local dealer to have the steering wheel centers it is just a little off to the left of center.
There is also noticeable difference in the how the 10 speed shifts with this new X model, compared to the 10 speed I had in my 2021 Diesel AT4.
The 2021 always shifted smooth and seemed to be timed perfect. I am in hopes the odd shifting is just the computer needing to learn driving habits. Not sure yet on that.

Spoke with AEV this morning, I really do not care of the gloss black grill with bronze trim. The bumper is a flat black, there is no other bronz on the truck, my wheels went great with my 2021 Carbon pro At4. That carbon pro had a dark satin grey brushed grill which I loved. I saw over the weekend there were multiple grill options I liked and could get for a 2023 Sierra, but after speaking with AEV, seems only the one that came on it, is compatible with their AEV front bumper, which I do love the look of the bumper, just not crazy about the grill.

I was concerned about fitment after watching this video tour of the AEV facility and they showed a test mule AT4X being retro fitted with the AEV bumper. There was mentioned of a pretty lengthy parts list to make the conversion. They were working on the details and feasibly of doing it as a kit.

I am now thinking I may switch my wheels to all black Fuel Coverts or possibly AEV rims.
I am still going to keep an eye out for a better-looking/ matching grill or rather one that I like better, should more options come available that are compatible with the AEV bumper.

Did a lot of Exhaust research this past several days.
Seems like they sound pretty darn good with simply doing a muffler delete.
I have done the 2k full on Corsa or Borla systems in the past on gas trucks.

Honestly seems these AT4X models sound pretty darn good with a simple muffler delete.
Seems keeping the resonators and the of course the cats in place and only pulling the primary muffler you end up with a solid improvement.
Seems based on some the DB level testing I saw that most of the full high dollar systems are actually louder than the simple muffler delete.
To my ear on video, they sound a lot alike.

What do you all think?

Friday - I have an appointment to get the muffler delete taken care of, if that doesn't sound as good as what I am looking for, I may come back and try just adding a Corsa muffler, those only run around 200-300 bucks as compared to the 2K for the whole systems.

Saturday - Window Tint.

Jury is still out on what I want to do with the whole tire wheel TPMs thing.

My TPMS worked fine for a day, but now is not working. I have done the "auto-relearn" on my truck twice today so far, but it won't pick up the sensors. Will take it back to the tire shop this week, but doubtful they can do anything. Their TPMS reset tools won't work on these 23 TPMS sensors GM has out now.

Yea, there is period of time where the system is not going into fault.
I took mine on about a 30 min test drive to get it to forget the original sensors and trip the fault light.

I had scanned my tires and wheels with my TPMS scanner and knew the system was still showing the wheels and tires I took off.
Those had 42-43 psi The tires I had just scanned had 38-39 PSI according to their TPMS sensors.

I was thinking maybe if I got to no longer sense any sensors it would allow me to program the new sensors.
Nope, still notta. The Sensors that were working fine on my 2021 At4 do not seem to be compatible with this 2023.
Really irritates me when these manufactures change simple stuff like this. Now its looking like the wheels all have need to be pulled off and sensors replaced with ones that will work with a 2023.

I also reached out this morning to some aftermarket sensor sources, that I successfully bought from in the past, they don't show anything yet for 2023 or show that the 2023 is the same as the 2021. So could mean I get stuck paying 4 times the price of aftermarkets to get OEM Vin specific sensors from the dealer, likely going cost $200-300 vs 50 bucks for a set of 4 aftermarket sensors, plus the time hassles and expense to pull and breakdown these wheels and tires again.

I am thinking I may go with something like the Fuel Coverts in all black rather then the two tone since that would match better with the grill being fitted with bonze accents rather then grey like my 21 AT4. If I do that, I will also want to bump the tire size up to 33-34" minimum.
Leaning towards going with 295/70R18s same setup as what I have on my 2500 HD GMC, only make the wheels all black for the AT4.

I have considered the muffler delete also. For me, I think it is a little too loud with the delete, and I have read a lot of droning issues going down the hwy just with the delete. I don't want to throw down 2K for the Borla catback system.

I think I am going to do a Magnaflow muffler swap though. Magnaflow will only be about 20% louder on initial swap, but a nicer low rumble and supposedly not really any droning issues. Apparently the Magnaflows take a few thousand miles to break in before they settle in to a bit louder (maybe 25 to 30% louder than stock) low rumble. I am going to my local muffler shop this week and see if they can get this done for me.

Thanks for the videos - I had watched a couple of those before, but most I hadn't seen. And I have done extensive looking on YT for muffler delete and muffler swap videos.

Yep, same issue I am having with the TPMS. Dunno if I will find a fix. Hopefully, as the yellow exclamation point warning is annoying on the dash. Plus not knowing my tire pressure. It also dings my phone and email with the GMC app telling me I have a sensor problem.

That will be a nice tire/wheel combo! I went with 285/70R18's Nitto RG's. They are 34 x 11.5. Seem a litle skinny to me, but I am used to my 2020 AT4 which had 20x10 fuel wheels with a -24 offset on Nitto RG 33x12.5 tires. Totally different look than what I have on my 2024 AT4X now.

Watching those DB metter readings especially the ones towards the later part of this video where he goes back and forth with clips of the deleted setup and the Borla setup. The Borla is almost always the louder of the two setups. The few times the deleted setup showed up louder in comparison, is was only loader by 1 DB, not 5-20 db like the Borla would at WOT.

I too really don't want it to be too loud, nore do I want to deal with a bunch of drone issues. I had seen some drone coments, both, that it bothered them and others saying there was none at all. So I figured I would just try it and see for myself.

I have noticed that there are diffferent resinators on some of these trucks compared to others.
The Zr2 clips would be most like our trucks being they are 6.2L and have the same exact stock turn down exhaust systems as the At4X's use.

This truck here to me sounds perfect with simply the deleted muffler.

Now the part I am still torn on, leave the flapper or take out the flapper.

Yeah, I hear you on the muffler delete - very tempting. I do think there will be drone with the muffler delete though. And for me, it is just a little too loud for my tastes and needs (wife, kids, etc). I also drive a 1000 mile trip to Nebraska from Montana several times a year and don't want bad drone during those trips. Have also read that while towing, the drone is bad too on just a delete.

All of which is why I think I will do the Magnaflow muffler swap first. Give it a few months for final break in of the Magnaflow. In the YT clips I have heard, the Magnaflow was about what I want the truck to sound like for my personal needs and tastes. Will probably only cost $100 for the Magnaflow muffler, so not much more than the delete.

When you delete yours, please post sound clips and your experience with drone. Very interested in your experience with the delete.

Also if you find a fix for your TPMS sensor issue, please post that also. I will do the same on my end on both the muffler and TPMS issue if I have any updates.

I was not able to find any clips on YT of a simple muffler swap. I am thinking Corsa has patented anti drone tech in their mufflers that if its too loud or I have a drone issue I will go back and add a Corsa muffler where the original muffler was and keep the rest stock including the resonators.
If I do a complete systems, they either replace the resonators or do without depending on the systems. All the completed systems that I found clips of with DB readings included, they were all louder then the muffler delete. Which I too am not after anything crazy loud.

I just like a nice rumble.
This is a sound clip of my SSR or rather the SSR I recently sold.

This is my SRT10 that I still own and plan to keep. Bought it last Fall, only 29K original miles 1 of only 200 White ones ever made.

My TRX is almost too loud but I do really like it.

I am in hopes of getting this new 6.2L sounding similar to that 6.0L that was in my old SSR.

Or at least something more like a flat black to match the AEV bumper, just not too crazy about the gloss black, but would live with it, just really not liking those bronze accents that is what bothers me the most on the new X is the Bronze accents on the grill. AEV said I should just paint it to a color I like. I am not sure what kind of paint would stick to plastic like that, I assumed that those colors were died into the plastics.
