Yesterday, I had to drop my wife off at the airport, so we took her 2025 Yukon XL. On the way there, it randomly shut off after some hard acceleration at speed. I was able to coast it to the side of the road, where it restarted. No check engine lights, no gauges out of whack, everything seemed fine. Got the wife dropped off at the airport and headed home, thinking I would try to get it in to get looked at. But efore I could make it home, the thing shut down on me completely at a stop light and would not restart. The starter would turn and turn and turn, but it would never fire back up. I wasn’t happy, but I figured it was probably the fuel control module, as that’s such a common failure point. Got it towed to the dealership, and left explicit instructions for them to call me with any updates, as my wife is out of town. Of course, they completely ignored that and called her today to leave the following voicemail:
Mind you, this thing only has just over 11,000 very easy miles on it and has been dealership maintained the entire time. WTF, GM? And what the hell is an “engine technician“? Isn’t that what we used to just call a mechanic?
Due to the late timing of the call, and the fact that it went to my wife’s voicemail while she was unavailable, I didn’t learn any of this until after business hours today, so I get to wait until Monday to hear the details. Fun times.
