Welded exhaust tip

I've painted exhaust in the past with great results. You'll need to refresh it here and there, but it'll look the way you want without removing or purchasing anything expensive. Just tape up a trash bag and start spraying! Obviously, try to clean/dry the pipe the best you can while cool. Apply 2 coats, let sit, then idle that baby for a little. Let sit, then apply #3 coat. Done.

Didn't come out near the way I wanted. I believe the can of Rust-oleum was older than I thought LOL.
I think I may try high heat engine paint, maybe I can get a more glossy finish.

I ordered a can from Amazon; have yet to try
It. Even that’s flat black.

I think a matt look would last longer.

Now I'm thinking I will put a couple more oats and drive it for a while, see if it grows on me

I have used the above mentioned products and they eventually start rusting. I have taken them off prepped them very well and they still rust. I don't live in the rust belt either. I'm thinking of wasting my money on the carbon pro tips Borla has in stock, but Borla wont guarantee them from rusting. Imagine that $1000 tips and they aren't sure if they wont rust. lol

I came up with another plan. When ready to start, following sanding/prep I'll initially apply a few coats of high heat primer, sanding between each coat, allowing the primer to cure with time and 15-20 minutes of exhaust heat cycle over at least a couple of days. I'll follow the same procedure with final heat resist paint; all this to help it last longer. Its extremely humid at this time of the year and ideally I should wait for dryer weather, need to think about it.

We just used hi-temp paint on our headers back in the day. Paint, let it dry, start engine up until the paint started to smoke, shut down and let cool and repeat a couple of more times.

Back in the day we used to get real paint! I remember back in the 70's, painting headers on a dry summer day, while parked on the streets of London UK.
