USB C ports

Weird question. 2025 AT4 The usb c ports charge my phone and power/charge the gps, so do the usb a ports....
The usb a ports power/charge my Garmin RV gps and turn on my furrion vision s monitor. When I plug the monitor into the usb c port, nothing... I know the monitor takes 12v exactly. Weird issue... Anyone have a thought as to why?

I don't believe gm's usb c ports are capable of fast/super fast charging, so they are limited to 5 volts.

It's still a shame gm eliminated the 12v cigarette lighter port.

I don’t know the exact amp/volt values, but I know that the old 12v cigarette lighters can provide a higher level of power than the USB ports. Prior to getting the GM camera that interfaces with the infotainment screen, I had to purchase a 110 converter with a 12v cigarette-style output in order to power the Furrion system. I let that live in the center console and ran the monitor to that. I know it’s a pain, but I never found much of a workaround.

I took battery power to a relay then used a fuse tap to the USB fuse as the trigger signal. Ran that 12v to supply my high speed magnetic charging pad in the center console, and also supplies this USB socket I put inside the console. Solved my power supply problems.

Here is a YT video of a guy who shows that the usb-c on the dash of his 2024 Sierra 2500 HD is putting out 40 watts. He is using his macbook. I'm not sure how to test this with a Windows laptop or any other device.

That helps the refreshed trucks. I know my pre-re's usb c does not fast charge, but have 12v ports.

All USB ports are 5vdc. Unless you have some type of step-up transformer to convert 5vdc to 12vdc you are under-volting your monitor.

Legacy USB ports were only 5 volt. Small numbers of modern ports support up to 48 volts with 20 volts being more common.

I have a similar issue, can you give me the specifics on the "gm camera" that you have?

…although I will admit I sourced my from eBay. Gives you the invisible trailer view, which is projected onto your infotainment screen, negating the need for the third-party Furrion monitor.

It's not hard to add one. I put it in the space just ahead of the brake controller.

You are not wrong.

For what these trucks cost though, they should have a port in the front and back passenger compartments.
