Truck/Car lift

I don't...yet. I have a bendpak 12APX on my purchase list for my pole barn. Building begins in Spring! I cannot wait. It's been my dream for 20 years to have it and a lift. Your barn looks amazing by the way. Wouldn't hate more details haha. Actually, one question. When you poured your concrete, did you go thick enough throughout or in one area for the lift? I believe 6-8" @ 3000psi for 12#.

I attached 3 pictures as we were digging footings.
It was also wrapped with hanging rebar and highway mesh wire. I overbuilt this as it has a minimum of 6” of concrete thickness then add in the 18” perimeter footings and 12” footings where the 54klbs MH would park and ready for a lift.
The building is 40 x 60 with a 40 x 20 back porch.
I lost almost a 1’ on each side wall due to 2x6 then small space then the brick. The roof is scissor trusses.
Even though we are an hour North of the coast, since Hurricane Katrina we had to build to a stricter code. It was ridiculous to require that many trusses. My pole barn in the back has 5’ span trusses and never had any damage.
This was started in 2018 and as is with a full bathroom with me doing some of the work I am in at 100k.

Looks so pretty! (y)

Not a great idea for me. I refuse to pay even more property tax, another structure to maintain and insure, HOA approvals, security risk for the two mowers (around $50k invested), more alarms. With almost 3400sf of garage space, I need to manage with just that for all my hobbies.
Property tax and insurance on a shed? We don't even have that in NJ. A shed with a wood floor on the ground is not a permanent structure. No tax and homeowners already includes outbuildings.

Security risk? Do You live in gated community? if you have 3400 sq ft of garage space I think you can build a shed. Just saying.
Even in NJ, they effectively tax larger garden sheds, anything larger than 200sf. I built a shed when I live in Marlton NJ; needed a permit and they increased our property tax as a result (pic below). It varies by county.
Insurance goes up if I include new structures, which we are obliged to declare; complete lack of insurers prepared to insure high value properties and content here in WA.

Yes, we live in a gated community in WA. Crime is on the increase in this area and I advise all to be cautious despite sophisticated security systems; no issues so far 🤞. Sure I can afford to build a shed of any size, pay additional insurance/taxes etc. have tons of space but don't want the hassle, due to other projects on the horizon. The large garage space is attached to and part of the main home and that's wonderful (well I designed it, hence it is). Would be easier to figure out a custom lift design for higher clearance. Besides I'm now used to using the front left garage with minimal clutter, for the truck. A lift will no doubt add a few $$ to the value of the property, parking for 8 vehicles instead of 7, a great selling point.

I have other forthcoming distractions: I may soon be designing another home, on a small corner but premium lot (15,500sf), we recently purchased, very close to us. It may be one we retire in. It will be three story, with full daylight basement, 1200sf +- garage, no garage lift, having a passenger lift in the foyer; heck we are getting old and may run out of fizz in the near future; wife hates stairs; my knees are great, I run and bike a lot, not sure for how much longer :)

Wowza minimum tax increase. We just had an assessment year in 2023.

Bought the grease extension from Amazon, that one did not give me fits it was the two on not sure what it is called that moves with the steering.
Had to put my 90 degree on end of grease gun and working from the ground it was a bitch, finally put my 24" hose on got it done.
Still will need to drop skid plate to access these two zerk fittings.
Drove up on ramps to make access easier but had to back down as wheel had to be rotated to access the drivers side zerk.

Don't even talk about that  . Property taxes in WA have gone through the roof. We were under the radar since we completed this home ;), 23/24 year they increased assessed value by 49.25% and my property tax by 29% only by looking at it from the outside. My protest for unfinshed spaces resulted in a fractional reduction in value. I feel they saw my new truck parked outside :)

It is what it is; others are worse elsewhere. Someone needs to pay to send the neighbors kids to school, take care of brave firemen, the police etc. and dozens of levys.

God Bless America, I would not want to be anywhere else. Could live on a Yacht in the ocean somewhere but wife would hate it :D

If you have over a certain size piece of land, forgot the amount of land required to classify as a farm but we have 14 acres with a horse, 2 cows and my Son has some chickens. So I am sure that is what gives us partial Homestead Exemption.

No such luck here. We own 6ac of prime land overlooking Drayton Harbor WA, however, almost 4ac is part of a conservation easement, despite, I've laid mostly to lawn, including a 400' long runway to fly my larger gas model planes, much to the disdane of one neighbor. Other than that, we are not permitted to use the conservation easement for grazing. Not that I want to, but could still own a horse/cow so long as they graze on lawns within my 2ac building envelop. Another neighbor owns a 1ac lot, has a chicken coop behind his home; my wife of course will have nothing to do with planting veggies or owning chicken or any pets for the matter, anything else goes; she rules :)

I am considering a 20ac piece of farming property with an older 3b home in BC Canada, close to where my daughter lives. Both granddaughers are crazy about horse riding and my daughter pays for their training and riding at a horse farm close to her.
