So.... my transmission just failed at 62,000. Of course. 2k miles out of powertrain warranty. Had a 5 day stretch of weather near or over 100°. Initially, I had lost reverse. Figured I'd attempt to save some money, so I did a fliud and filter change. I could only squeeze in about 6.5 quarts. Did torque converter stalls to get to desired oil temp, then got maybe 3/4 of a qt in. What a PITA! Gotta drop exhaust to have enough room for pan removal. Reassembled. Took it off the lift, and voila! I had reverse! Backed out of the shop, put it in Drive and..... Nothing

It's possible it's just low on fluid now, and the initial problem was dirty/boken down fluid, but really I have no idea. No codes. I had it towed to a transmission specialist shop today. They are a very busy shop and most likely won't even look at it until Monday. The fact that it's a short week doesn't help my case. Hopefully it's just a bad valve body or something like that. That could save me thousands. This is a quality shop, and they will diagnose it free of charge. I'm giving them the work anyway, but that's a sign of a good business.
Wonder how much this is going to cost?
