Trailer Brake Controller questions

What a lot people seem to be missing is they do work when I manually use them with the squeeze button. However they don't seem to be working when I press on the brake pedal for the truck.

If'n you have the gain max'ed out and trailer brakes are adjusted and still will not lock the tires up, it's time for warranty repair.

How do you know they are not working when pressing the truck brake pedal? It is obvious when pushing the squeeze button but it is not noticeable when working in conjunction with your truck brakes. That was my observation when recently messing with mine for the first time.

I didn't max mine out tho, I had them at 5.

GM already knows this is an issue with some trucks and has issued a bulletin to dealers on techlink.

I’m guessing it’s a batch of the brake controllers from a supplier the code and/or the circuit design is causing the issue.

Just want to update this thread. After I rehooked everything up it I got it working. I didn't have to do anything different but I noticed the indicator that comes up on the dash that shows how much brake it's applying, doesn't come up when the truck brake is depressed even though it activates the trailer brakes. However if you use the squeeze bar just enough to get the indicator on the dash to pop up, you can then see the trailer brakes working while depressing the pedal.

All in all, I believe this was user error and nothing was wrong.

That is the correct dic display function. Once it's set, there is no reason to display the gain with the foot brake.

But if you use the hand brake it's nice that the dic shows the gain so you know how much brake you are giving the trailer only.
