Software upgrade for K&N Air intake kit.

So update. Dealership reset the ECM in attempt to reset that sensor and it did not work. But they did charge me a labor rate for the failed attempt. I was pretty discouraged. Even showed them the screenshots and shared our discussions as well. Complete failure. So now I'm not sure which direction to turn to.

Go to a different dealership. Totally unacceptable that they cant find a root cause for the error message.

You either have to learn how to live with it, go back to OEM - or it's probably going to require a custom tune. You have a gas v8 right? My advice would be to contact probably Michigan Motorsports and inquire if they have the capability to tune that out. You'll probably have to send your ECM in.

I used them for my suburban and have nothing but good things to say.

I dont think brand/Type of CIA makes a difference. I bought a used GM Performance CAI and my truck is not programed for any extra air flow. It has not caused any issues however I did turn off my air filter life. I bet $$ the tech didn't know how the clear the message that tripped and they saw its was aftermarket so they washed their hands of it.

Ya I would try another dealership. Maybe just go in and say you have a code and need it checked out without explaining too much. Sometimes too much information can be a double edged sword. If you live in a small town like me and there is only one GM and one Chevy try the Chevy dealership etc. that said it’s inexcusable for the dealership to not correct the issue of the code and or give you a solution to fix said issue and if it’s a authentic GM part they have no excuse for not fixing it.

I do have a 6.2 gas truck. I'm reluctant to go back with Factory air filter system because I am getting hella good results from the K&N right now. Picture attached I took the other day. I guess I'm gonna try another dealership. Jackson has 3 GMC dealers so I will have to setup an appointment with a different dealer and see if we can get a male service advisor who will listen and take me seriously.

I like my GM CAI because it gives my truck a more throaty sound with my Borla exhaust. Mine came with all the bells new. BTW That's great gas Mileage cause I get nothing close to that. Good job on that.

Just email an LS speciality tuner and ask if they have that capability. You're going to spend more money at the dealer in the end, they already charged you once for a failed job. I personally would've refused to pay. I pay you to fix it not tell me you can't fix it or it's free. At least a tuned ECM will give you better performance not just a warning light off.

I think he is worried about warranty? But yes If the warranty is gone I would do HP tuners or something like BlackBear. I would stay away from Diablo. I had horrible issues with it that I can go into depth but at another time.

Well it's a 2020 and way out of warranty, but I regret paying for a failed job. But I've been going there since 2016 and they always treat me right. This is the first time they failed me. So my next plan is to try another dealer. There are 3 in the greater Jackson area so maybe I can get lucky with a different service advisor and mechanic. They normally knock it outta the park. But for $160 they sure didn't try very hard. I would've liked to see more concern. The service manager is very obstinate and "nobody is smarter than him" typically. But I stumped him on this one. Time to try a new dealer.

I think it’s crap they charged you for something GM requires or is needed to be done to work properly. Like I stated I had mine programmed by GM here, and honestly I think they are idiots half the time.

Since you're out of warranty, just send an email out to a tuner and ask. I recommend Michigan Motorsports. Get your ecm tuned, it's a different animal once you get it done. It's going to run completely different. I had some hesitation after I installed an afe momentum intake on my 11 5.3, after the tune was said and done, all that went away. MPG went up too. You might as well get a nice upgrade other than getting a warning message off.

I agree with you on a tune, but some can’t tune until dash lights are resolved. Not sure if this qualifies or not.
